Here's a new Ball Tech On Demand video featuring Dr. Will Healy sharing protocols and best practices for finishing seed-raised coleus. There's a ton of great info in here covering everything from media and container selection to light, temperature, irrigation and nutrition. Seed coleus aren't notoriously challenging but there are plenty of tricks for optimizing production. This is a great video to share with your entire team: https://lnkd.in/gWp_3SFW #greenhouse #horticulture #growing #coleus #seed #technicalservices #balltechteam #greenhousetechteam #techondemand #ballseed

A couple years ago, the Ball Seed Tech On Demand team created a range of videos intended to help greenhouse owners and managers provide training for production teams. This “In the Break Room” series of short educational sessions has evolved into a playlist of more than 30 videos. You can find them all here: https://lnkd.in/gpCtfYjf Today, we want to highlight the video covering Fertilizer Choice—Nutrition for All Stages. In this video, Dr. Todd Cavins discussed a topic every grower needs to consider before spring crops arrive and get planted—nutrition. From water quality to pH and EC in media to plant development stages and desired growth, fertilizer choice is paramount. Todd took us through a fast-paced look at all things plant nutrition helping you set the stage for healthy crops. https://lnkd.in/gnAiFyt5 #greenhouse #horticulture #nutrition #fertilizer #nutrients #fertility #growing #crops #ballseed #techondemand #balltechteam #balltechtips #greenhousetechteam

If you're planting tulip bulbs in the field this fall and concerned about soil pH, Ball Seed cut flower specialist Dave Dowling has some advice and a good resource: He says you want to aim for a pH of 6 to 7 for tulips and if soil tests show pH is currently high, calcium sulfate or potassium sulfate are what you can use to lower it. Dave shared this University of Minnesota info on lowering pH for fruits or vegetables and the process would be basically the same for tulips or other cut flowers. rates to use for various options are in the article: https://lnkd.in/gNG43Vae #greenhouse #flowerfarming #agriculture #tulips #horticulture #pH #lowerpH #farming #ballseed #greenhousetechteam #balltechteam #techondemand
