Hello European Commission! It seems that you are late in replying to 2 important questions from the European Parliament concerning shipbuilding: 📍A question from MEP Anna Fotyga on the effects of the Green Deal on shipbuilding and EU security (https://lnkd.in/ebXPsPty). 📍A question from MEP Christophe Clergeau on the impact of the EU green taxonomy on the development of sail propulsion for transport vessels (https://lnkd.in/dCzxUQsv).

In its reply to the first question, the European Commission highlights that "the revenue from auctioning 20 million EU Emissions Trading System allowances will be available up to 2030 through the Innovation Fund to support maritime decarbonisation projects, including innovation in the shipbuilding sector with a clear EU-added value." However, revenues from shipping allowances are not specifically earmarked for maritime investments but instead contribute to a common pool supporting decarbonisation efforts across various sectors. To ensure transparent and equitable distribution of revenue from Emissions Trading System allowances, it would be logical for shipping revenues to be fully allocated back into the maritime sector's investments.
