I’ve been wondering what AI Leadership might look like? 🚀 It’s a working theory. Generative AI is so new, we don’t know how things will pan out. Here are some thoughts (which might all be wrong 🤷♂️ ): 1. Advances in AI technology will slow down; 2. But innovation and disruption will accelerate as we start to work out what to do with the new technology we have today; 3. And organisations that ignore AI will get left behind by competitors that start experimenting with and embracing new technologies and new ways of working. From an AI leadership perspective it might mean: # Innovation and transformation comes from the ground up - rather than being driven from above. # Imagination is more important than data - leaders will have to will the future into existence rather than relying on data and straight lines # You can’t walk backwards into the future - large companies that have had success in the past might struggle to embrace change # Trust is gold - how you create and maintain trust in the future might make or break organisations. Here's why asking "How do we use AI?" is the wrong question for leaders. Effective leadership is not just about deploying technology for innovation purposes. It's about strategy, which is your ability to build a long-term competitive advantage through the lens of short-term execution. AI is a tool, it is not your strategy! The challenge is, many leaders are not clear what AI is, how it works, or the simple way they can use it to delver value (with minimal cost). Here's a practical starting point: While many have experimented with AI for generating content, fewer have explored its potential as a strategic thinking partner. This is something every leader can do to deliver fast value. Here’s a simple way to begin: 1. Identify a problem: What challenge is your organization facing right now? 2. Engage with AI: Go to your AI platform and input the following prompt: "I want you to act as a strategic thinking partner by asking me one question at a time to help me think through a problem. Here’s the situation... (describe your specific scenario)." 3. Interact and evaluate: Engage with the AI’s questions and see how this process accelerates your strategic thinking.
