With the global rise of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), accurate and non-invasive diagnostic tools have never been more crucial. Our latest study validates the use of MRI Proton Density Fat Fraction (MRI-PDFF) as a reliable method for grading hepatic steatosis, offering a potential game-changer for early detection and monitoring of MASLD. MRI-PDFF demonstrated impressive accuracy, with an AUC of 0.97 for distinguishing between healthy and steatotic livers. According to many authors, the incidence of osteomyelitis in the world is increasing, doubling its rate between the 1960s and the 2010s. Despite the growing number of publications in this area, this disease still represents a major challenge for orthopedists around the world. This study aimed to highlight the continued importance and utility of plain radiography as a rapid, cost-effective, and readily accessible examination in the diagnostic process. EDAP TMS recently announced its Focal One® focused ultrasound platform has been granted FDA Breakthrough Device designation for the treatment of deep infiltrating endometriosis. Focal One HIFU uses focused ultrasound to noninvasively heat and destroy tissue in a targeted area, and the device is already FDA-cleared to treat the prostate. The Breakthrough Devices Program allows fast-tracking of novel devices that provide effective treatment of life-threatening or irreversibly debilitating diseases or conditions. This is the fifth focused ultrasound device to earn this designation. Observing 226 patients undergoing TF or Stretta in a hospital setting, they compared baseline data, reflux symptoms, DeMeester scores, LES pressure and adverse events over a 1 year period. In our recent study, we investigated the risk of adjacent-level fractures following interventions for osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (VCFs). Through randomized controlled trials (RCTs), we aimed to compare the outcomes of vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty against the natural progression of the disease. Key Findings: - RCTs were conducted to evaluate the risk of adjacent-level fractures post-intervention. - Results indicated no significant difference in the incidence of adjacent compression fractures between patients who underwent vertebroplasty or kyphoplasty and those who followed the natural disease course. - This provides robust evidence that interventional treatments such as vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty do not elevate the risk of subsequent adjacent fractures. These findings are crucial for informing clinical decisions and reassuring both practitioners and patients regarding the safety of these common interventional treatments for VCFs. Interstitial lung disease (#ILD) remains the leading cause of death in patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc). Although several risk factors for developing SSc-associated ILD are known, timely detection of SSc-ILD remains a significant challenge. A recent publication from the research groups at Leiden University Medical Center and Erasmus MC demonstrates that #eNose technology can detect ILD in SSc patients. Furthermore, it can distinguish SSc-ILD from other types of ILD, including CTD-ILD. The authors concluded that eNose technology holds potential as a screening tool for ILD in patients with SSc.
