Vineyard Wind should be ashamed of how this has been handled.

(archive: 2011) Post-construction mortality surveys at Pennsylvania wind turbines #PA: As of June 30, 2010, voluntary surveys by the companies owning 83% of the installed wind power capacity (or 79% of total number of turbines) in Pennsylvania reported an annual average of 24.6 bats, ranging from 6.8 to 42.7 (or 3.2 to 21.5 per megawatt), and 3.9 birds, ranging from 1.7 to 9.8 (or 0.7 to 5.0 per megawatt), killed per turbine. Extrapolated to all 420 turbines, representing an installed capacity of 748 megawatts – and remembering that these are reports . . . #windpower #windenergy

🌊 Inshore moorings for floating wind Before they are towed to the field, floating wind turbines need to be moored by the quayside for tower integration, testing and commissioning. Challenges abound, including: ➡️ Installing hulls in shallow inshore water ➡️ Working with un-surveyed, inshore seabed conditions ➡️ Understanding tidal and wave actions ➡️ And more... Our team of mooring specialists can develop scenario options tailored to the project’s specific needs. These options include taut or catenary moorings. By detailing these scenarios in an anchoring and mooring feasibility study, we can help you develop a robust concept model. 🔗 Read the full blog here: https://hubs.ly/Q033h0pn0 #renewableenergy #floatingwind #mooringsolutions #offshorewind

(archive: 2015) Sound exposure in harbour seals during the installation of an offshore wind farm: predictions of auditory damage: Summary 1. With ambitious renewable energy targets, pile driving associated with offshore wind farm construction will become widespread in the marine environment. Many proposed wind farms overlap with the distribution of seals, and sound from pile driving has the potential to cause auditory damage. 2. We report on a behavioural study during the construction of a wind farm using data from GPS/GSM tags on 24 harbour seals Phoca vitulina L. Pile driving data and acoustic propagation models, together with seal . . . #windpower #windenergy

😮 Boosting Green Energy: The Vital Role of Crawler Cranes in Wind Farm Construction 💪 The main installation of the wind turbine is an important part of the entire installation process. Crawler cranes can be used to lift heavy generator set components to locations and perform precise positioning and adjustment. At the same time, it can also assist in the installation and disassembly of other parts of the wind turbine, such as blades, towers, etc. #crawlercranes #construction #windfarms #HeavyDutyMachinery #ConstructionEquipment

#ow #floatingsolution #challengesforports “We probably have around 150 different floating wind platform designs at the moment. So how do you design a perfect port for floating wind?” Floating wind is very different from fixed-bottom in terms of port requirements since the components and equipment are not only stored there but also installed in the port as well, before being towed to the project site. A floating wind port therefore needs to have space for the turbine assembly and installation of the turbines on top of foundations, and most likely for assembly of the floaters as well as for the wet storage of the floaters.
