When the mercury starts rising, it often feels like the time to swap from red wines to whites and rosés. I love nothing more than a crisp and refreshing Fruliano or a mouthwatering Chablis. However, I often still hanker after a red, but it has to be something that suits the warmer weather and importantly pairs well with summer foods. That means no to the big Australian Shirazes, beefy Malbecs and complex Cabernet Sauvignons. Here are some perfect red wine options for summer. 3 tips to find affordable hidden gems at a wine store🥂 It is a truth universally acknowledged that in order to drink great wine, you’ve got to flash your cash. We’re told time and time again that the very best stuff is going to cost a small fortune, and most of us don’t bother to question this when hunting for a fantastic new wine. Here are ways to enjoy wine without spending a fortune: 1️⃣ Trust Established Producers: Even entry-level wines from renowned producers surpass generic ones. Their reputation ensures quality. 2️⃣Opt for Warmer Regions: Instead of Bordeaux, consider South France. Spain, Portugal, Australia, parts of California, South Africa, and Chile benefit from ample sunshine, ensuring perfectly ripened, fruit-forward wines. These wines lack the green, unripe flavors, making them ideal for daily, affordable indulgence. 3️⃣Venture Beyond the Famous: Prestigious wine regions come with a hefty price tag. So instead of champagne explore New World sparklings from Australia. Embrace lesser-known grape varieties. Unfamiliar doesn't mean inferior; it often means exceptional value. Go on and share these hacks with your wine loving buddies and let's start discovering these hidden gems when next time we go wine shopping. #sonalholland #masterofwine #winetips #winetime #WineExpert #winehacks

It is harvest time in the UK and other parts of Europe. 🍇 You may have noticed that we had a late/cold spring then a not so summery summer in the UK 🌦 Less warmth means grapes ripen more slowly so for most vineyards harvest has come a few weeks later than usual. Where it might have been in the first few weeks September, UK producers are much more likely to be harvesting at the end of September this year. Most will start by harvesting grapes for their sparkling wines. Sparkling wines benefit from the higher acidity that less ripe grapes provide. This is a big reason that England is becoming increasingly well known for sparkling wines 🏴 Sparkling wines don't need that much warmth or sunlight, and we evidently don't get much warmth or sunlight, even in "summer". The next Champagne they say (or maybe we say) - if you don't know now you know. ---- Next time you're reaching for a Champagne, Prosecco, Cava or Cremant, go for an English sparkling wine instead. You wont regret it! 🥂

Happy Friday folks! Its that strange weekend when the 6 nations seems like its just started and they get a week off. What are we to do? At some point I'll be trying these two wines that I bought from the latest Lidl Wine Tour. For the uninitiated Lidl have a small selection of wines they change every two months, although they do run out earlier sometimes. The wines are usually good examples of the style or region and very good value for money. Both of these were under £10. A South African Chenin Blanc. Dashbosch 2021. There are great wines coming out of South Africa and it has always been known for its Chenin Blancs. Usually stone fruits with honey and some floral notes balanced with good acidity. Tasty! The red an Australian Cabernet, Shiraz Merlot blend from the McLaren Vale. Wirra Wirra vineyards has been in existence since 1894. This blend first produced in 1972. This should be a big fruity mouthful of wine. What will be in your glass this weekend? #thewinecru #winelovers #weekendvibes #southafricanwine #australianwine

TOP TIPS, TRUTHS & MYTHS Serving temperatures for wine As a rule of thumb Australians in general drink their white wines too cold and their red wines too warm. Reds 15-18 degrees and Whites/Rose 7-10 degrees is preferable. #wineservingtemperatures

WINE FOR EVERYONE! There's a thing that happens when people get to know you're a wino (or maybe you're just reading a book on wine stuff) - you get the inevitable job of ‘ordering for the table’. Joy. This moment is fraught with danger; egos to manage, expectations to fulfil, ten different drinkers with 10 different tastes... But your friends and family have listened to you prattle on about wine and they’re cashing in. You could just order Pinot grigio and Malbec of course, but dare to go a little less predictable (otherwise what’s the point in you being there, really). You want wines that engender the hoped-for level of 'ooo, that's nice, what is that?' but within a price point that doesn't have father saying 'it cost how much?!' Unless I'm with someone who has a known loathing of any the wines below, then I've always found these to be safe bets. And usually available on a 'classic' wine list. The chicken of the wine world, if you will. Italian Whites: Gavi di Gavi, Verdicchio French Whites: Anjou, Saumur, Macon-Villages (even for those 'I don't like Chardonnay' drinkers..) Iberian Whites: Albarino, White Rioja, almost anything from Dao (Portugal) Italian Reds: Primitivo, Nero d'Avola French Reds: Côtes du Rhône-Villages (good ol' CDR) Languedoc-Roussillon, Cru Beaujolais Iberian Reds: Navarra, Garnacha from off-beat regions, and again, almost anything from Dao (good ol' Dao) You can't please all people all the time. Especially not in my family. But these promise a good level of ROI :)

Title: Buy Rioja Wines Online | Great Wines Direct Link: https://lnkd.in/e5ddTwWu Rioja Wines Rioja, which has denominación de origen calificada (D.O.Ca., "Qualified Designation of Origin," the top classification in Spanish wine legislation), is a wine area in Spain. Grapes from the autonomous entities of La Rioja, Navarre, and the Basque province of lava are used to make Rioja wine. The three zones of Rioja are Rioja Alta, Rioja Oriental, and Rioja Alavesa. Traditionally, many wines have included grapes from all three zones, while single-zone wines are slowly becoming more popular. Since its founding in 1925, the D.O.Ca. Rioja Regulating Council has authorised seven traditional varietals, four red and three white: Tempranillo, Garnacha tinta, Mazuelo (sometimes called Cariena), and Graciano are the red varietals. #rojawines #wines #greatwines #qualitywines #winestore #drinks #foodanddrinks #food

Here are 3 hot tips for buying wine 🍷 Walking into a wine store can be a daunting experience. With so many styles from regions all over the world, finding the right wine for the right occasion is no easy feat. Here are 3 practical tips to help you: 1️⃣ Choose Recent Vintages When buying budget, everyday drinking wines, choose recent vintages. In 2024, look for wines from 2023, 2022, or 2021. Older vintages might not be suitable. 2️⃣ Discover Wines from Around the World Great wines come from many countries, not just France and Italy. Try wines from the USA, Australia, Argentina, Chile, South Africa, Spain, Germany, and India. Experiment with different styles to find your preference. 3️⃣Opt for Quality over Quantity Most wines under Rs.2000 lack personality due to high taxes. Aim for wines priced around Rs.3000-4000 for better quality and expression. If budget is a concern, drink less but choose higher-quality wines.
