✈️Cargo Margo✈️ asks, "What do you think about women in the supply chain industry?" We think, "A powerful transformation is underway, shaping a brighter future as women lead and innovate in every corner of the maritime industry." Let’s continue this journey – full speed ahead. In 2021, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) adopted a resolution proclaiming an International Day for Women in Maritime to be observed on May 18 every year. The day is designed to raise the profile of women in maritime, strengthen the IMO's commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 5 (gender equality) and support work to address the current gender imbalance in maritime. At the VMA, we are celebrating all week! #VAmaritime #WomeninMaritime

The IMO International Day for Women in Maritime 2024 is both a celebration and a renewed call to action for our industry as it acknowledges its progress and opportunities in addressing gender imbalance. IMO's commitment to progress is enshrined in UN Sustainable Development Goal 5 (gender equality), however global commitments are open to interpretation, while it is also fair to recognise unconscious bias as a widespread phenomenon. Fortunately, substantive work is being done to promote the recruitment, retention, and sustained employment of women in the maritime sector, whether as seafarers, maritime professionals, or in leadership positions. #IMO #Wallem #Gender #Equality #Women #Maritime #Seafarers #Leader #Shipping https://lnkd.in/gw_2agkB

Hari Kartini serves as a day to commemorate gender equality between women and men. However, to what extent have they truly achieved parity to date? While in some aspects they have indeed, according to the United Nations, climate change disproportionately affects women. Ensuring access, participation, and involvement of women in decision-making regarding environmental policies and sustainable development is one of the efforts to commemorate Hari Kartini in the present day. At TruClimate, we appreciate the efforts, hard work, and dedication of our Kartini-like figures in creating a better earth. What about TruFriends? Gender-responsive design can increase mobility choices and accelerate transport decarbonisation. Inclusive transport and decarbonisation of transport are often viewed as separate issues however, an important opportunity lies at the connection of gender-inclusion, transport and decarbonisation. In our latest whitepaper, we address how a systems approach can effectively guide stakeholders in the transition to a zero-carbon future while simultaneously improving access, enhancing safety and promoting gender equality in transport.
