Over the last few months, I've applied to 45 projects, mostly in the public sector, an area where I've been working and gaining extensive experience for the last few years. As a versatile freelancer, these applications come with the challenge of navigating through tenders. What particularly frustrates me is the apparent preference for tradition over diverse perspectives. The knockout criteria in these tenders seem designed to recruit individuals similar to those already employed there. Although I can't confirm this, it often feels as though my skin colour and gender – combined with the assumption that I might start thinking about having children because of my age – are creating an unfair playing field. However, I am currently single, a dedicated entrepreneur and probably will not be having children in the next five years, if at all. The rejection of this law by the Dutch Senate doesn't help lighten my feelings of inequality on the labour market. However, on a positive note, I'm not wasting my talents by doing nothing. I am actually working quite a lot right now, albeit without getting paid. Let's hope for a future where talents and diversity are appreciated, regardless of background or personal choices. #Dutch #LabourMarket #Diversity #Inclusion #Equality

AANMOEDIGEN Discriminatie niet willen aanpakken, is discriminatie aanmoedigen. Weer een voorbeeld van de pijnlijke realiteit. Dat mag wel wat scherper worden weergegeven in de kop. En lees maar even goed welke partijen ervoor gezorgd hebben dat deze wet is verworpen.
