...And Happy Women's History month! 💐 This year's theme of #inspireinclusion is particularly important to me. Diverse perspectives bring innovative approaches to problem-solving. In the medical sector it is not only a matter of ethics, but also an imperative for delivering high-quality, patient-centred care. I am inspired by the women who pioneered innovation in STEM. Often overlooked, these are just a few: - Shirley Ann Jackson, the first black woman to earn a doctorate from MIT, whose discoveries allowed caller ID, fiber optics and portable fax to be possible. - Asima Chatterjee, the first woman to earn a doctorate in science from an Indian University, who discovered treatments for Malaria and epilepsy. -Grace Hopper "Amazing Grace", the first recipient of a National (US) medal of technology, who worked on one of the earliest computers and developed the world's first compiler. -Olga González-Sanabria, a NASA scientist who invented nickel-hydrogen batteries. These now power the International Space Station. Last week I had been to North East and It's impressive to see the Northeast states prioritize #womenempowerment without #noise or excessive publicity about #diversity initiatives. It reflects a genuine commitment to fostering #genderequality and creating opportunities for women to thrive in various fields. The involvement of women in economic activities, especially in remote areas, is a significant step towards inclusive development.
