The Versatility of a Geoscientist Geoscientists are among the most adaptable professionals out there. Taking myself as an example, I’ve had the privilege of navigating through various spheres of geoscience, from groundwater geophysics to exploration geoscience, reservoir geoscience, and now, mining geoscience. Each field comes with its unique set of tools, resources, and challenges, but the beauty of being a geoscientist lies in our academic foundation. During our academic journey, we are exposed to a wide array of disciplines within geoscience. This exposure equips us with the flexibility to transition smoothly across different specialties in our professional careers. It’s been about a year since I delved into petroleum geology or worked with softwares like Petrel, but I am pretty sure that if the need arises, it wouldn’t take much to get back on track. This adaptability is one of the many reasons I love being a geoscientist! #geology #mining #petroleumgeology #geophysics #exploration #geoscience

Meet Natasha Morris, E3’s Senior Geologist. Last week, Natasha attended the EETiG conference, where she led a session called “Deepening our Geologic Understanding.” Read on to learn about her takeaways from the conference, and what she has to say about working at E3. "At the EETiG conference, it was incredibly encouraging to see the level of enthusiasm, motivation, and growth within the emerging energy space. The need for significant investment is clear, as it is crucial to the growth of decarbonization and emerging energies. Equally important is the growing spirit of collaboration – working with Indigenous bands, stakeholders, operators, and regulators to develop new standards for shared development. The increasing influx of technical specialists into this field highlights the remarkable growth and potential within our community. Starting 16 years ago as a core tech in Northern BC, my journey through the geosciences has been far from linear. Key milestones in my career include the discovery of approximately 2mm wide visible gold in a fist-sized piece of quartz while prospecting in 2021, publishing a paper on Montney geochemistry in a peer-reviewed journal in 2018, and most recently, co-authoring a whitepaper with my colleagues at E3 this past fall. What I enjoy most at E3 is the opportunity to delve into geochemistry and collaborate with an incredible team. Though we are a small team, we are agile, with each member bringing unique skills to the table. The most exciting opportunities for the company's future are in exploration and discovering lithium in subsurface brine deposits. E3 is not only pioneering a new lithium industry in Alberta but is also privileged to lead the way in mapping out lithium sources and systems within these subsurface brine plays." #Lithium #AlbertaEnergy #AlbertaBusiness

How identifying geothermal well targets Watch our video series' latest and last episode, which was brought to you by Swiss Geo Energy and Ad Terra Consultancy. In this episode, Martina Cervelli, our dedicated geologist at Ad Terra Consultancy, takes you through selecting the optimal site for geothermal exploration. By analysing historical drilling data and naturally occurring faults in the subsoil, we develop a static geological model that serves as the foundation for dynamic geological and thermal models. This data-driven approach integrates geology, geophysics, and engineering disciplines, helping us identify target reservoirs and potential drilling trajectories. Our primary focus is on two significant rock layers, with ages ranging from 247 to 145 million years. These layers, rich in limestone, anhydrite, dolomites, and other lithologies, present promising opportunities for geothermal energy extraction. Canstar is committed to a data-informed, first-principles approach to mineral exploration. These high-resolution, project-scale surveys lay the foundation for a deeper geological understanding of the mineralized structures at Golden Baie and Facheux Bay. By identifying the structural controls for gold and antimony mineralization at both projects, we can conceptualize known mineral occurrences to inform further exploration and create models to guide new discoveries. New geological modeling completed by Resourceful Geoscience Solutions Geoscience Solutions Inc. of Halifax, Nova Scotia, proposes that the area's complex folds and faults may not have been fully understood in past interpretations. Increasing the understanding of these known mineral occurrences could help identify additional structural settings and potentially expand isolated prospects into larger exploration districts. https://lnkd.in/gsxdXkzE
