In a world that often feels fast-paced and digitally connected, it's essential to take a moment to reflect on the values that truly matter. Building Relationships: In our journey through life, it's the relationships we nurture that bring us the most joy and fulfillment. Let's take the time to appreciate the people who stand by our side, offer support, and share in our triumphs and challenges. Giving Back: As we strive to create meaningful connections, we should also remember the importance of giving back to our communities. Whether it's through acts of kindness, volunteering, or supporting local initiatives, every effort counts in making the world a better place. Together, let's focus on building lasting relationships and giving back to those in need. Because when we do, we not only enrich our own lives but also make the world a brighter, more compassionate place. If you want to stay up-to-date with us, follow our Page.

As we end volunteers week, I was struck by a conversation with by Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) colleague Stuart Niven on just how important it is that we say "thank you"; which was closely followed by a weekend away with an awesome group of volunteers; and showed how right Stuart was. 16 adults came together to deliver a brilliant weekend to a group of young people. When thinking about volunteering, we often focus on the big effects - the number of young people sailing, or camping away from home; but for me there were a couple of brilliant examples: -An adult volunteer coaching a nervous young person through their first coastal sailing sessions; helping them to overcome their nervousness. The brilliant bit for me was that this adult was using techniques used with him by other volunteers (including the brilliant Nick Barber) which helped him overcome his own nerves. -A young person who has grown in confidence over the last 4 years being taught by the gifted Tim Bannister on how to pass on those skills. -The patience of Matt, Robert Elliott and Hugo as they helped young people master basic skills. -The time taken by Jamie & Peter Wadsworth as they led sessions consolidating skills. -The work of Paul, Yme Tichelaar, Richard Callaghan, Christopher Bishop, Andrew Davison, Diane in safety boating the weekend. -The feeding and logistics by the ever organised Chris Callaghan-West. And the best bit - within an hour of being home, Chris Callaghan-West was thanking the team and recruiting volunteers for September....and had sign ups within minutes. So, if you are looking to improve your weekends, consider #volunteering (even outside #volunteersweek; and if you want to see how mine was.....https://lnkd.in/e84erfUv
