March is Women's History Month, and I feel fortunate to have been influenced by so many unique women heroes of the past, leaders of the present, and the visionaries shaping our future. These women are role models, pioneers, and forces of change worldwide. Being a bridge for others, creating and opening up opportunities, is something I believe in deeply. It's crucial to have a variety of voices included in discussions and decision-making processes. Enriching conversations leads to better outcomes for everyone. Very interesting compilation of research findings on female family business succession (follow link in article below), among others: ➡ Firms still have a blind spot in preferring men over women in succession decisions. When both sons and daughters were possible successors, they chose sons 81.2% of the time. ➡ Interestingly, in unplanned successions due to death or illness, more females took over their firms because the predecessor’s preferences didn’t factor into the decision as heavily. ➡ Female family successors have a higher level of CEO-related human capital, as measured by leadership and industry experience, business education, age and the use of a business plan during succession. ➡ Why women CEOs offer Family Businesses an entrepreneurial advantage #succession #nextgen #femaleleadership #familybusiness

Women in the US now hold 30% of Corporate Board seats 👏 Although this is a US Report from 50/50 Women on Boards, it is still an interesting read for those in Canada. There is a finding that may not surprise anyone here: "When Women Lead: Companies with women in key leadership roles (CEO, Board Chair, or Nominating Chair) show higher board diversity, correlating with a greater percentage of gender-balanced boards and increased representation of women and people of color."
