We are pleased to support Generare in its seed funding round! 👏 🦠 Generare is taking bacteria found in soil and breaking down their genetic code to uncover untapped bioactive molecules, called Natural Products (NPs), at unprecedented speed. 🌱 NPs were once the gold-standard for drug-discovery; penicillin being a prime example. They have led to 500+ anticancer, antibiotics and immunosuppressive drugs, yet their discovery in recent years has plateaued even though molecules from microbes are 100x more likely to gain approval than those from plants or chemistry. 🔓 Generare is reopening this critical avenue of discovery and doing so at scale. Using its patent-pending techniques it has already identified 100+ previously unknown molecules. 🚀 We are proud to support such an innovative company utilizing natural products, which we truly believe is the future of the agricultural, biotech and pharma sectors. 👏 Congratulations to Guillaume Vandenesch, Dr Vincent Libis and the Generare team, we can’t wait to see what you do next! 🚨Liberset is thrilled to announce its strategic investment in a major European industrial biotechnology leader Abolis Biotechnologies is a company specializing in industrial solutions using microorganisms and developing bio-production processes of molecules through fermentation. These processes allow the production of sustainable and biodegradable ingredients for the cosmetic, pharma, food, and chemical industries. This funding will fuel the company’s expansion into global markets and accelerate its research and development efforts to bring innovative biomanufacturing and microbiome solutions to the market. Liberset is proud to collaborate closely with Cyrille PAUTHENIER (CEO), Valérie Brunel (General Manager), Gwenael Servant (VP Business & Strategy) as well as the whole Abolis’ team in their future developments, especially in their expansion in North and South America. The chemical sector is facing major problematics as it is the largest industrial energy consumer and the 3rd largest industry subsector in terms of direct CO2 emissions. This is largely because around 50% of the chemical subsector’s energy input is consumed as feedstock (fuel used as a raw material input rather than as a source of energy). Thus, to solve this complex situation, Abolis Biotechnologies decided to dedicate its mission to the development of green chemical production processes with sustainable supply chains (use of ag. waste, etc.) to find alternatives to legacy petroleum-based chemicals. We strongly believe in Abolis’ capacity to become a major and global ecological transition player thanks to the support of its new international community of investors. 🎙 Would it be a relief to hear from someone who's built biotechs in a down market (2008), and lived to tell the tale? We certainly thought so! Dan Goddard of Browne of Browne Consulting Group told us some great stories: -Navigating the cyclical nature of biotech -Riding the waves of good and bad funding times -Getting creative with capital -Diverse companies do better -Culture and mission are the keys to staying the course Take a listen, and let us know if Dan's advice resonates! #buildingbiotechs #biotechnology #biotechstartup
