🚀 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗨 𝗔𝗜 𝗔𝗰𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝗧𝗢𝗗𝗔𝗬❕ Today, 1 August 2024, the EU's AI Act comes into force. This pioneering legislation is designed to ensure that AI systems are 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲, 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 and 𝗴𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗿𝘂𝗹𝗲𝘀 that protect fundamental rights. Although the AI's public space has expanded beyond the boundaries of nation-states, there are tools to regulate it in ways that enhance the quality of democratic discourse. Alongside legal measures to prevent or limit the spread of harmful rhetoric, fact-checking institutions have proven effective in mitigating its negative impact. It is not only a matter of passing down the responsibility for self-regulation to stakeholders, but public authorities must also foster responsible behavior in the new digital arena through information, incentives, and regulation. #ai https://lnkd.in/d3ShH99R

European politicians in key committees have approved new regulations on AI, marking a major step towards what could become the world's first legislation addressing AI technology. The legislation, known as the #AIAct, received overwhelming support from the civil liberties and consumer protection committees of the European Parliament. The Pitfalls Of AI Self-Regulation As AI rapidly evolves, the gap between technological advancements and regulatory frameworks is widening, causing widespread concern. It’s clear that guardrails are needed,but businesses and policymakers are grappling with how best to regulate AI. California Gov.
