Huawei's DigiTruck initiative celebrated a milestone as 221 youths graduated from ICT courses in Trans N’zoia, contributing to nearly 5,000 individuals trained across over 30 counties since 2019. The event, graced by Dr. Abraham Korir Singoei, Principal Secretary of Foreign Affairs, highlighted the significance of digital education in empowering the youth. With 143 boys and 78 girls graduating, they are now equipped to study, find jobs, trade, and work online, enhancing their prospects in the digital economy. “Education is crucial, and as we build schools, prioritizing digital skills training remains paramount. Thank you to Huawei for developing our youth's capacity in digital literacy,” remarked Dr. Korir, underscoring the partnership's impact on Kenya's educational landscape. Steven Zhang, Deputy CEO for Public Affairs of Huawei Kenya, emphasized Huawei's role in bolstering ICT infrastructure across rural Kenya. He highlighted the transformative power of digital skills, noting how graduates have already leveraged their training to engage in online businesses and pursue technological courses. The initiative extends beyond youth training, with 22 teachers also benefiting from the program. Huawei Kenya takes strides in #empoweringwomen through #digital entrepreneurship training! Partnering with Computers For Schools Kenya and MaMa Doing Good, Huawei recently trained 100 women from various table banking groups in Nairobi, equipping them with essential digital and entrepreneurial skills.
