Bioeconomy involves the production use and conservation of biological resources which include plants, animals, and micro-organisms hence providing sustainable solutions to various economic sectors. For example, furniture is made from biological resources. Circular Bioeconomy. Most biological resources are found in our rural areas hence if well managed can contribute significantly to rural development. Women play a critical role in maintaining a circular bioeconomy some of the initiatives being; ü Marta Gomez San Juan, a senior policy officer at the European Commission, who works on developing and implementing the EU Bioeconomy Strategy ü The Women in Green Industry Chapter, an initiative by UNIDO that aims to promote gender-inclusive policies and practices in the circular economy, especially in developing countries Investments in youth and women-led initiatives in circular bioeconomy will play a vital role in economic empowerment and mitigating climate-related calamities.

For their impact and developed technologies, they have earned the "Champions of the Earth" or "Young Champions of the Earth" titles, awarded by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in the last 5 years. 1. Dr. Purnima Devi Barman, after noticing a big decline in the adjutant stork population, has founded the Hargila Army, an all-female conservation movement dedicated to protecting this bird. 2. Dr. Gladys Kalema-Zikusoka is the CEO of Conservation Through Public Health. She has not only been protecting endangered primate species for decades, but has also pioneered initiatives that create economic opportunities and enhance healthcare in poor neighbouring areas. 3. Xiaoyuan "Charlene" Ren has created a way to ensure clean drinking water accessibility in rural China. By testing and cataloging groundwater quality in thousands of villages, residents can be informed of clean water sources through her platform MyH2O. 4. Nzambi Matee, the founder of Gjenge Makers, addresses Nairobi's plastic pollution problem by producing construction materials from recycled plastic waste and sand. She also developed a machine prototype that turns plastic into paving stones. 5. Dr. Katharine Hayhoe, a climate scientist at Texas University, has been shaping the US climate policy with her research. As one of the most influential figures in the climate dialogue, she analyzes future scenarios, global models and develops innovative strategies to combat climate change. 🚀 As these scientists work hard to help our planet, let's come together to honour their efforts and take a look at the exciting advancements paving the way for a brighter future.
