On the morning of Monday July 15, the NYISO system load was trending above the forecast by a considerable amount -– usually not a good sign for grid stability during historic heat waves. Voltus and its #NewYork virtual power plant rose to the challenge, dispatching 350+ MW of demand-side resources, helping the system load drop below the forecast, enhancing NYISO grid stability, and avoiding potential blackouts in the process. #Demandresponse shines as a solution to enhance grid stability while paying energy resources handsomely during the process. #virtualpowerplant #distributedenergyresources

FERC has approved NERC’s revised ROP to identify and register unregistered IBRs connected to the Bulk-Power System by May 2026, addressing a reliability gap associated with the increasing integration of IBRs on the grid. The new Category 2 GO/GOP will apply to entities owning or operating IBRs with an aggregate nameplate capacity of 20 MVA and above and are connected to 60 kV and above. 🔍 Impact: 📈~14% increase in visibility of existing IBRs. ✅~98% of IBRs will comply NERC Reliability Standards, on par with conventional resources. ⚡This strengthens the reliability and resilience of our electric grid. Transgrid is responsible for ensuring sufficient system strength services are available to maintain the stability and security of the NSW power system into the future. This week we published our assessment of over 100 individual 'non-network' and network solutions to meet NSW's needs (read it here: https://lnkd.in/gmpGK_Ax).
