Virtual premiere: Starting today, cellcentric GmbH & Co. KG – our joint venture with Daimler Truck AG – presents a virtual 3D model of the NextGen fuel cell system at IAA Transportation in Hannover. The new hydrogen-powered system weighs less than 400 kg and is designed to fit into conventional 13-liter diesel engine compartments. cellcentric is preparing to deliver fuel cell systems on a large scale by the end of this decade. At that point, long-haul heavy-duty trucks powered by hydrogen fuel cells are expected to become a key technology for sustainable transportation.

Volvo Group Venture Capital invests in AI-driven trucking company aifleet. In the US, the full truckload market is inefficient and fragmented, with half a million carriers. With truck utilization trending downward, aifleet has developed technology that radically improves trucking efficiency. By optimizing route planning and scheduling and building end-to-end automation, aifleet's proprietary AI technology can increase driver utilization by more than 40 percent above the industry average. “The Volvo Group is committed to driving innovation and more sustainable transportation solutions, and it’s clear that aifleet, leveraging their unique technology, shares our ambition”, says Stephen Roy, Chairman of Volvo Group North America and President of Mack Trucks.

Today Volvo Trucks announces the increased use of low-CO2-emission steel. This steel, produced with recycled material and fossil-free energy, will be used in tens of thousands of Volvo trucks starting next year.    Volvo Trucks was the world's first truck manufacturer to introduce this type of steel in our electric trucks in 2022. Now, the use of low-CO2-emission steel will be extended to all powertrains.     “Steel is one of the main materials in our trucks. We are also looking to exchange other materials, such as aluminum and plastic, for low emission alternatives. We are proud to lead the way in the industry when it comes to sustainable material in our trucks,” says Jan Hjelmgren, Senior Vice President Product Management and Quality, Volvo Trucks.

Breakthrough: Volvo Trucks will launch a long-range version of the Volvo FH Electric with 600 km range. The enabler for the 600 km range is a new driveline technology, the so-called e-axle, which creates space for significantly more battery capacity onboard. More efficient batteries, a further improved battery management system and overall efficiency of the powertrain also contribute to the extended range. “Our new electric flagship will be a great complement to our wide range of electric trucks and enable zero-exhaust emission transport also for the longer distances. It will be a great solution for transport companies with a high annual mileage on their trucks and with a strong commitment to reduce CO2,” says Roger Alm, President Volvo Trucks.

World premiere! The all-new Volvo BZRT Electric buses from Volvo Buses are now on trial in Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico. The bi-articulated chassis can extend up to 28 meters and offers the same passenger capacity as a corresponding diesel vehicle – but with zero emissions, marking a big step towards emission-free public transport. 

Introducing Charging Mangagement by Volvo Trucks - a new service that enables transport companies to efficiently manage the private charging of their electric trucks at the home depot.    Charging Management helps increase productivity and uptime by ensuring that the trucks in a fleet are sufficiently charged for scheduled operations and reducing the number of unscheduled charging sessions.    This new service is a great complement to Volvo Open Charge, which Volvo Trucks and Volvo Energy launched last year. Volvo Open Charge helps carriers find, access, and pay for public charging stations and is available for all truck brands, not just Volvo Trucks.
