Concerns arise over MEGA IMAGE - Ahold Delhaize Group‘s acquisition of Profi, by Nine O’Clock The Competition Council has a number of competitive concerns regarding the transaction through which Delhaize “The Lion” Nederland B.V. (Mega Image) is acquiring Profi Rom Food S.R.L, The concerns arising from the analysis conducted by the competition authority target both the retail market and the procurement market for predominantly food consumer goods. “As you know, the European Commission agreed to transfer the analysis of this case to us, at our request, given that the Romanian market is the most affected. This is the largest transaction in the retail market in Romania, and a complex analysis is required. That is why we are consulting with authorities in other member states that have managed similar transactions, but we also want to hear the views of those affected: agricultural producers and processors, competitors, consumer associations,” said Bogdan Chiritoiu, President of the Competition Council / Consiliul Concurenţei. #newsfromcompanies #mega #Profi #Romanianews #Nineoclocknews #viaprofi #FoodSafety #ConsumerHealth #NINEOCLOCK https://lnkd.in/dUmvDBY8

During the period 2001 to 2005, I gave several strategy presentations on De Beers Group to business schools and other interested groupings. The first one, of 2001 (https://lnkd.in/dukvP7cU ) talked about the separation of management and operational ties with Anglo American. The last one in 2005 (https://lnkd.in/d5743Ytn ) looked at the transition from a listed to a private company. The presentations in-between (all available on my SlideShare site: https://lnkd.in/dpePWU2h ) look at how the strategy unfolds. Perhaps, useful lessons seeing De Beers maybe looking at a change in corporate structure? My mother always said to me "learn the lessons of history". This maxim should hold true here. #diamonds #strategy

The nearer, the better. Relocating part of the business to a neighbouring country may not be the one-size-fits-all solution against geopolitical disruptions, but it provides a sustainable alternative for a resilient supply chain. The Dominican Republic serves as a major transit point between North, South and Central America and across the Caribbean. During the pandemic, Mondelēz International, the global snacks and beverages company, initiated 'Project Near', directly importing products from their origin country to avoid container shortages and shipping bans. Explore how our interconnected network of services, infrastructure, and technologies supported Mondelēz in facilitating a smooth logistics operation, in our 'Transforming Trade' article with Custom Content from WSJ: https://lnkd.in/eupX-zUW

🔰 Business Functions Capabilities and Small and Medium Enterprises’ Internationalization 🟢 Theme 3: Intra-enterprise Factor-based Strategies for Export Participation ⏺ Operation Strategy Crafting Processes An effective operation strategy begins with concise definition of the enterprise’s business, that is, what the enterprise produces and for what specific market. BL5 defined his business as “we're in the business of selling de-hydrated (value added) tropical organic fruits.” While BL3 demonstrated that “we are laboring to increase or expand our market for roasted coffees because that's where we can make more money, and together with premier grades of coffees we can fetch significant revenues.” BL3 further emphasized that “and we are looking to up scaling ourselves in the roasted coffee sector across the world, to supply diverse range of markets including African continent.” According to Atac (2005) and Efrat et al. (2017), enterprise managers must craft operational strategies with which they determine the critical tasks, processes, and capabilities a firm must engage to produce for the target market. The operational strategy charts ways of developing production and marketing capabilities to appropriately synchronize product dimensions (QQTCs) with the target markets’ needs (NEHOs). When some of the participating BLs documented their intentions to penetrate and serve targeted market segments, they were documenting their respective operations strategies; an operations strategy maps the capabilities a BL is intending to develop. Actualization of such mappings can propel BLs to global expansion. #smallbusiness #mediumbusiness #internationalisation
