Mind-Blown by VR! Just blasted off from an incredible weekend at the VR Convention on Umbra! This wasn't your typical conference. I strapped on my headset and rocketed into a fully immersive virtual world, complete with interactive panels, a sprawling product floor, and even a dazzling fireworks show (who knew virtual fireworks could be so mind-blowing?). It was incredible to see how VR is breaking down barriers and bringing people together across galaxies! I met industry leaders, developers, and fellow VR enthusiasts from all over the globe, all within the virtual realm of Umbra. The discussions were electrifying, the product demos mind-bending, and the sense of community – even while planets apart – was truly special. This technology has the potential to revolutionize the way we work, learn, and connect. It's more than just entertainment – it's a powerful tool for collaboration and shared experiences across realities. Anyone else diving headfirst into VR? #VRConvention #TheFutureIsHere #ConnectingTheCosmos

Have we reached the "Tipping Point" for XR. Watch this video: https://lnkd.in/e4VT-tcV John interviews Lorne Fade who is the co-Founder and COO of VR Vision, a Toronto based company specializing in development of enterprise XR and Digital Twin solutions. In addition to his role at VR Vision Lorne is also involved with various other ventures including founding a digital marketing studio called Fade Digital and being CTO of a VR Healthcare company called Reality Well that focuses on improving quality of life for seniors. Some of the questions that Lorne Fade answers are: 1) What things are you excited about in terms of recent technologies, developments, etc. that are driving adoption of XR generally 2) What are some of the biggest challenges that enterprise users still need to overcome 3) What is your favorite case study/example of XR 4) Do you think we have reached the tipping point for adoption of XR in the enterprise segment 5) Tell us about the whitepaper that you published with other industry experts? What was the motivator? Another event recap - VR this time. Happened a while ago, but we could not resist revisiting! The #VR scene is full of passionate dudes, so it's logical to host the event during the conference, which sounds relevant. GIC VR Forum it is! Thanks to many local game and tech studios, it was a lovely two-day immersive journey full of VR enthusiasts during the fantastic GIC event. We enjoyed an outstanding communication during two intense days: - Our Evangelist Serg shared a talk about development and marketing cases around our VR bestseller Into The Radius. Great audience and a ton of relevant questions, as always. Some noticeable highlights: - Excellent talks about a variety of VR topics from developers and publishers - Square-round table where we discussed all hot industry topics - Insights at the VR pros panel, which was nicely moderated—only relevant news and trends discussions. - And sure, VR parties. It's always great to talk with industry vets in an informal atmosphere. Common impressions are great. There were many relevant people, exciting talks, fantastic parties, valuable insights, and inspirational vibes. Thanks to all hosts, sponsors, volunteers, and guests. Let's repeat next year!

Yes, I’m not surprised with the results of this study. Our VR nature series ‘ecosphere’ made it into nursing homes in Australia, with one lovely lady brought to tears at being back in the Savanna in Kenya where she’d travelled many times in her youth. Yes, VR can make us feel less isolated. BUT, as a creative merging regenerative thinking research, I’m interested in WHY we (and in this case particularly the elderly) feel isolated in the first place. (Social isolation can increase a person’s risk of dementia by up to 60%!) Tech can’t fix all our problems, yet more and more I’m seeing VR positioned as a tool for ‘escape’, which becomes more attractive as we further disconnect physically from each other and the world around us. I want to see more VR creatives and tech folks centering planetary health and societal wellbeing in their processes and business models so we’re not trying to create (and profit off) utopian scenarios fueled by dystopian realities. My grandma had Parkinson’s in her final years. She adored pandas and her dream was to go see them in China. She couldn’t, but I did, and then showed her footage of the babies playing in VR. She was overjoyed. But, she also had as much, or more joy, from my visits with her great grandkids, hearing them tell her about seeing the pandas in real life. Yes, VR has strong use cases. But at what costs to the planet and society? And what else can/should we be doing as creatives and innovators to critique systems that disconnect and isolate us in the first place? That’s not someone else’s job, we all have a responsibility 🙏🏼
👵 New Stanford University study reveals almost 60% of seniors felt less isolated socially after their #VirtualReality experience - the opposite of the stereotype that #VR is an isolating technology! Additionally, 80% of them had a more positive attitude after the experience. The study involved interviewing residents of 17 senior communities who who could choose from virtual experiences such as parachuting, watching stage performances, or visiting places like Paris and Egypt. They used both HTC VIVE Flow and PICO XR headsets. The study was conducted in collaboration with Chris B., CEO of Mynd Immersive, and is part of a wider study to help lessen the impact of #dementia. I particularly enjoyed the final comment by senior resident Pete Audet at the end of this video who shared our wonder about how exciting the next 10 years of this technology is going to be 👏 #SpatialComputing #SocialIsolation #SocialIssues #Healthcare #SeniorLiving #HealthAndWellness #HealthTech

[Free Webinar] In this webinar, Paulo Napolitano will discuss some guidelines on how to maximize the utility of VR in your organization. He will discuss the best scenarios where you can use VR; its advantages; his personal experience using VR for the past 3 years; and of course, some of the challenges he encountered using VR. The work has changed – meeting virtually has become a common practice. With that new type of communication, new challenges arose. Some of these challenges are: Low focus due to multitasking, Zoom sickness, Low absorption of knowledge, and Unstable decision-making making. A change is needed. Virtual Reality addresses these shortcomings due to two intrinsic characteristics of the environment within VR, which are: 1. Embodiment, 2. Immersion. #leanconstruction #freewebinar
