Ever wondered how cameras capture scenes with varying light intensities? 👀Dynamic range is the secret sauce. In simple terms, it defines the span between the darkest and brightest spots a sensor can snap in a single image. But here's the kicker: It's not just about numbers; it's about possibilities! Imagine this: A sensor with a dynamic range of 80dB has a 10 times wider range of luminance limits than a 70dB sensor! 🙌 The HDR feature is useful whenever the scene to be captured has a wide range of luminance in different areas. Stay tuned to see where HDR sensors could be used best and learn more about our wide range of image sensor technologies: https://bit.ly/3RjPiW7 #FRAMOS #embeddedvision #sensor #HDR

High-Accuracy Wide FoV Optical Sensor Units for Distance Measurement The ams OSRAM TMF8820-1A optical distance sensor modules have just been added to RUTRONIK Electronics Worldwide’s inventory. These modules rely on a direct Time-of-Flight (dToF) arrangement, with single photon avalanche photodiodes (SPADs) accentuating their sensitivity and vertical cavity surface emitting lasers (VCSELs) acting as light emitters. They offer a detection range reaching 5000mm with a 10mm distance accuracy. A dynamically adjustable field of view (FoV) proves to be another useful benefit. Key applications include smartphone handsets, camera autofocus systems, factory light curtains and... High-speed cameras are technological marvels They capture moments at incredibly fast frame rates, allowing us to see details otherwise invisible to the naked eye. These cameras work by capturing a series of images in rapid succession, often thousands or even millions of frames per second, depending on the model. The process begins with the camera’s sensor, which receives incoming light through the lens. Unlike traditional cameras, high-speed cameras utilize specialized sensors capable of capturing images at such high speeds. How are Line Scan Images Formed? A line scan sensor has one or more lines of pixel sensors. During the camera’s exposure time, each pixel accumulates photoelectric charges proportional to the light from the object imaged onto that pixel. At the end of the exposure time, the charges in an entire row of pixels are transferred into a readout register. The readout register shifts out the pixel charges and they are amplified, corrected, and digitized to produce the camera output. The readout register shifting is done while the next row of pixels is being exposed. The maximum rate at which exposure and readout can occur is called the “line rate” and is specified in kilohertz (kHz). To “freeze” the motion of fast-moving objects, high line rates are needed.
