Sure, here is a description of a solo researcher: "A solo researcher is an individual who conducts research independently, without being part of a larger research team or institution. They are responsible for designing experiments, collecting and analyzing data, and interpreting results on their own. This autonomous approach allows them to pursue their research interests with flexibility and creativity, but also requires self-discipline and resourcefulness to overcome challenges without the support of collaborators."

#Researchers often ask me how to further their academic careers. One of my main recommendations: reach out to broader audiences. Academic articles are the best way (in addition to conferences) to share ideas with other academics, but researchers need to think beyond articles to have greater impact. #ScienceCommunication, or sharing your ideas beyond peer-reviewed publications, is a wonderful way to illuminate the minds of people worldwide with your ideas. The public wants to know the truth, and unless researchers take the opportunity to share it with them, the public could be misinformed. I emphasize the importance of #SocialMedia and #PressReleases, but writing op-ed pieces as discussed in this article is another excellent opportunity. As they mention in the article, “Writing perspective articles gives scientists the chance to share their expertise and encourage people to think in a different way.” #science #academicpublishing
