This past weekend, a group of Bellows employees volunteered at the MacGregor Park Cleanup Day hosted by Houston Parks Board. It was a steamy morning, but all the volunteers worked hard to spiff up the park and it looks great! Thank you to the Houston Parks Board for keeping our community beautiful and for providing opportunities for us to give back. #greenspace #macgregorpark #bellowsconstruction

I love the holidays because I get to witness so much public service being done. Whether it’s toy drives, helping a neighbor put up decorations, volunteering at shelters, etc., the holidays bring out everyone's inner public service officer. Going into this new year, there are simple and large ways to continue serving the public and empowering our communities. What better week to start than the week of celebrating a public service hero, Martin Luther King Jr. Ways to be involved: 💡 Local cleanups: I subscribe to volunteercleanup.org to inform me about local cleanup events. It’s a great way to not only help the environment but also ensure communities have a safe and clean environment. - Further: If you have lawn gear, offer to help your elderly neighbors with their yard work. If you see a clogged drain, please take the time to unclog it; Miami and the South Florida area have notorious flooding issues. - Ask your city for a recycling bin and start recycling! 💡Local animal shelter: There is usually crowding at local shelters. Volunteering for an hour to take cute dogs for a walk ensures that not only does a dog in need get some love and exercise for the day, but it also increases your step count and dopamine! 💡Sign up for a library card: One of the only ways governments can measure funding towards public libraries is by looking at library card enrollment numbers. By signing up for a library card (which is free), you support public library funding by showing an increase in demand. Also, the library can open up a new social arena for you in which you can also volunteer and connect with individuals from all types of backgrounds in your community! 💡Buy and donate necessities to homeless shelters! 💡Volunteermatch.com is another great resource to connect you to opportunities to assist that align with your talents. For example, if you’re a musician, there are opportunities to provide music lessons to those suffering from Alzheimer's. Have your fun hobbies align with service! If you have any service events or opportunities you’re involved in, please share! I’d love to learn and connect.

Want to get involved? I'd be happy to provide more details if you're interested in participating, sharing contacts, or investing. We can all sit back and do nothing to alleviate shelter overcrowding. If adoptions are down, these dogs don't even have a chance. Email me at emenegon@hands2paws.com, and I'll send you the necessary information, including a deck presentation. 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗯𝘆 𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗯𝘆 𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁! 🚒🔥 We’re proud to highlight a special group within our team who give back in a meaningful way. No fewer than 3 of our employees have chosen to volunteer at the fire department in their neighbourhood, each having their own unique reasons for making and maintaining this commitment. Adriaan Otte, our Lead Engineer, feels that it is important to contribute to the community and this is his way of doing that. However, next to that, there are a number of reasons he likes being part of the voluntary fire department: “The team dynamics is something else! It’s very cool to walk into situations others walk away from and to do this with a team of like-minded people is great. Also, the fire department has helped me to get to know more people when I recently moved to a new town and to communicate short and concise. Occasionally I can be a bit lengthy in my explanations and you’ll learn to overcome that quickly when in an urgent situation”. Tim Visser, our Head of Operations, loves the challenge, suspense and action that comes with the job as a fire fighter. He is also a fan of the group dynamic and wants to make a difference in his community. “I believe everyone should be involved in some form of volunteer work. For me, being a firefighter is the perfect fit because I strongly identify with the core values essential to being an emergency responder”, says Tim. Rudy Dijkstra, one of our Non-Executive Directors, loves the local impact he can make and that he can contribute to a liveable and safe environment. “I love the technical challenge; being a firefighter requires toggling between planning and acting. As an entrepreneur I often tackle challenges that others might shy away from and this is a trait that fits well in this line of work. An added benefit is getting to do this with a great group of people. Next to that, I feel it is important to do a type of charitable work and with aforementioned points, this job suits me best”, thus Rudy. At Acquaint, we’re supportive of our team members who take on roles that benefit their communities. Their commitment to volunteering as firefighters reflects a dedication to service that we value and respect and that is truly inspiring! What do you do for your community? #team #proud #volunteering #community #givingback #watertech

Keeping the cat chat going, we desperately are in need of a shelter in the Northwest of Tasmania. This has been identified as major hurdle to successful cat management in the region, as highlighted in the Cradle Coast Regional Cat Management Strategy (2021-2026). Having access to a cat management facility enables residents to safely surrender unwanted cats or kittens thereby reducing the number of abandoned and consequently stray cats in the community. Another facility would also act as a base for potential community outreach programs and cat colony management. https://lnkd.in/gAvwSep6

TOMORROW MORNING (SATURDAY APRIL 20TH) at 10:30 AM our amazing Who I Am Foundation volunteers in #Albuquerque will be having our next Community Clean-Up (ABQ)! For this Community Clean-Up our volunteers will meet up at, and clean the neighborhood around Mesa Verde Community Center located at 7900 Marquette NE Albuquerque NM 87108 NO OPEN-TOED SHOES Cleaning up loose trash is one of the best ways to pitch in for your community and the environment. Volunteering as a means to help conserve and protect the environment has a lot of upsides. Of course, the first is that you’ll be taking care of our planet, and it badly needs a little love given the myriad ways in which we’ve become adept at destroying it. But beyond that, volunteering for a cause you care about is a great way to meet like-minded people, make friends, and pull yourself out of the blues that sometimes accompany caring a lot about something important – especially if you feel alone in your endeavors. None of us like the sight of litter. Litter spoils the look of where we live but that’s not the only reason for picking up litter. There are a number of benefits from picking up litter that you may not have considered before. Volunteer-led projects such as these are one of the quickest, simplest, and least expensive ways to inspire more community spirit and civic action. A visually appealing community increases property values, attracts businesses, and improves the neighborhood's image. Beauty is one of the three most influential factors in community attachment, which means loyalty, to your particular town or city. Some research even shows that a nice-looking neighborhood promotes good behavior. Join us in keeping your community clean! For more information: https://lnkd.in/g2ByASKE #TeamWhoIAm_Albuquerque

🌞🚚 Sunday Vinnies Soup Van Run Update 🚚🌞 Braving Melbourne's scorching summer heat, our Inner City Vinnies Soup Van team embarked on the usual Sunday run yesterday. It was a tough one, I'd have to say. The demand for food hampers was exceptionally high, leaving us without supply for our last two stops – a stark reminder of the pressing need in our community. I had never seen that before. Have you thought about it? For many of us, summer and the heat bring unique challenges and some additional ones for people experiencing homelessness: How do you store your medication in extreme heat? I was reminded of that when seeing someone with prescribed medications next to them yesterday.☀ Where do you seek refuge when temperatures soar above 35 degrees and it’s hot even in the shade? Our dedicated volunteers hit the streets daily, seeing the challenges and providing crucial support as best as possible, because, well, homelessness doesn't take a heat break. To combat heat and dehydration, we distributed special summer hampers with essentials like sunscreen, deodorant, insect repellent, caps, and extra water bottles. Socks, a year-round necessity, were also in high demand. We never seem to have enough, regardless of the seasons. I am truly privileged and humbled to be part of this impactful movement - to work with Vinnies Vic, as St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria is lovingly called, but also to be a volunteer, and I really admire those who have been so much longer than myself: During the day or the week, they juggle roles as civil engineers, school principals, electricians, carpenters. They work on international ad campaigns; they are students, mums, dads, sons, and daughters, all trying to make someone else's life who needs support just that little bit better. If you feel inspired to contribute, here's a link https://lnkd.in/gfghfdiv. It's worth it. 🤝❤️ #Volunteering #socialimpact #givingback #homelessness #donateforchange #changemakers

As an industry expert in the RV world, I found this recent article from Rogue Valley Times to be particularly interesting and relevant to RV enthusiasts and travelers. The mention of Sanctuary One, a nonprofit animal rescue care farm in the Rogue Valley, highlights a unique and worthwhile opportunity for RVers to visit and support a meaningful cause. With tours available every Friday and Saturday until October 26, 2024, this is a great chance for RV travelers to not only enjoy the beauty of the region but also learn about animal care and rescue efforts. This article underscores the growing trend of RVers seeking out meaningful and immersive experiences during their travels. Supporting local charities and organizations, like Sanctuary One, not only enriches our own experiences on the road but also contributes to the well-being of the communities we visit. I encourage fellow industry professionals and RV enthusiasts to consider incorporating visits to places like Sanctuary One into their travel itineraries. Let's continue to support these important efforts and make a positive impact wherever our RV adventures take us. What are your thoughts on blending travel with charitable activities? Share your experiences and ideas in the comments below! #RVIndustry #RVerCommunity #TravelWithPurpose #SupportLocalCharities #RVAdventures #ProfessionalEngagement
