Are you curious about how EPA/ORD is working to make our research more useful to people across the country? This article shares some of the lessons we have learned in piloting a solutions-driven approach to research to jointly answer scientific questions and respond to partner needs. It also gives a peek into how I spend my days - researching partner-engaged research!
National Program Director, Air, Climate and Energy Research Program at US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
Over the last 6 years, EPA/ORD has been developing and piloting it's Solutions Driven Research approach to helping our partners by conducting research that helps to solve their most critical environmental challenges. We've learned a lot through these efforts, and you can read more about the projects and Solutions Driven Research in this new article: https://lnkd.in/drJMTY_7

🌱🔬 What does Open Science mean for environmental research? Joop Spijker works at Wageningen Environmental Research. He explains that, as this is an applied field of #research, it is particularly important that the outcomes are usable and findable for their target group, such as municipalities. The information is available, however not everyone is able to find it yet. Discover what you can do on www.wur.eu/ose. #science #information #available

Excited to share: I have just completed Key Essentials: The Global Biodiversity Framework, Sustainable Development and the Law course. The insights gained have been truly eye-opening. Understanding the interconnectedness of biodiversity and sustainable development is crucial for crafting effective policies and shaping a greener future. Biodiversity conservation often fails because of a lack of communication and understanding between researchers and practitioners. You cannot do everything alone in biodiversity and climate change action. A network of like minded people with different expertise is essential. The Centre for International Sustainable Development Law (CISDL) ensured learners tap knowledge and engage with researchers in diverse academic fields ranging from International Law, Climate change, Environmental Studies, ICT, Economics, Political Science, Policy-makers and Diplomats. I now see opportunities for aligning conservation efforts with development goals, driving positive change while protecting our planet's valuable ecosystem. Here's to applying this knowledge in addressing the challenges of today and championing a more sustainable tomorrow! #UniversityOfCambridge #Biodiversity #Climatechange #Sustainability #ActionForNature

Nice article. A lot of potential for resource recovery from wastewater, but indeed also challenges for practical implementation of sustainable circular solutions. With collaborative and applied research like in TKI Watertechnologie at KWR Water Research Institute we aim to drive circularity to practice.
