📹 The research project we are looking at today in our #ThrowbackThursday series is TB-Rumpf. In this project, our institute demonstrated the potential of thermoplastic tape laying (AFP) in combination with thermoplastic resistance welding. By means of in-situ laser tape laying, skin segments of an aircraft fuselage were fabricated from CF LM-PAEK in an out-of-autoclave process. Stiffeners were then joined to the segments using the resistance welding process. Both technologies enable a rapid and cost-effective production of future aircraft structures.
