🌟I love reading historical fiction & thought I would share some insights from my favourite characters... ✅Jack Aubrey & Stephen Maturin appear together in over 20 books & the film Master & Commander ✅2 very different men, their love of music brings them together & they have a great yin & yang quality to complement one another #wealthcreation #aubreymaturin #patrickobrian #hmssurprise #yinandyang #flexibleworking #ownyourperformance

I help teams collaborate better through creative teamwork training | Artist, Academic and Author of Funny Business: Lessons on Creativity from Improvised Theatre
My book, Yes, But: Essays on Improvisation was momentarily the best selling book in Theatre History and Criticism. Byron Pogson tells me that this, technically, makes me an Amazon Bestselling Author. This is a title I don't deserve, yet certainly won't refuse. If you're interested in what this particular Amazon Bestselling Author thinks about art, communities, and commerce, it's worth a read: http://bit.ly/3Oi5tAw #improvisation #art #theatre #history #book #author #amazon

As a writer and (occasional) speaker, I love language. Dame Judi Dench is reciting a sonnet I've read before here; it didn't sound like that when I read it, I can tell you that much. And I read a lot of poetry. Take 5 minutes and listen. And if you're looking for a moral in today's post, it would be this: you can have the best idea or raw material in the world, but the real magic lies in the execution. https://lnkd.in/gA_9arT4

The FNWF Judges often say "they don't/didn't edit Shakespeare". Hence FNWF prefers to leave the published novels and Anthologies of FNWF in their main state. As the Author intended. "Marking the 400th anniversary of the publication of William Shakespeare's First Folio, gripping three-part docuseries Shakespeare: Rise of A Genius tells the incredible story of how a glover’s son from rural Stratford became the greatest writer who ever lived." His works have lasted 400 years. The unique and magnificent stories of FNWF Authors, once published, will also last many years. And who knows? There are no other stories like this in the world. https://lnkd.in/gpus-ZbY

If you've followed me for more than 7 minutes or you know me IRL, you know how excited I get when I learn about a new word. I encountered "retronym" in the waning chapters of Kory Stamper's fantastic book "Word by Word: The Secret Life of Dictionaries" (which I highly recommend, BTW). So of course I had to write about it on my blog and share one of my personal faves. Gotta click to find out which one, though. 😉 https://bit.ly/3OJSx7r #writingadvice #wordchoice #writingcoach
