Meeting with fellow marketers at Pavilion get-together in Atlanta was meaningful for many reasons. Nicole Wojno Smith did an awesome job of organizing and the venue was perfect. You can guess it. One major topic of discussion was the accuracy of AI in content generation and other fields of marketing. The positive takeaway that was mid-market and enterprise segments have started going for annual, team-based licenses of AI products. I am one of those who never builds a product until I see the money. Some other observations were: 1. "Fractional" sales and marketing are quite common now. 2. Deals taking longer to close are affecting others too. Sam Jacobs Thanks for continuing to build this community. Lindsay Britt brought in-depth insights into the latest uses of AI in marketing. Domenic Ravita brought up the topic of hallucinations from AI tools. Mousa Ackall has done it all before at Wingspan and enlightened us with various aspects of marketing including product marketing. I often get asked - How did I come up with the name - OceanFrogs. This gives me so many meetings. This meeting was no different. There are some decisions that you become proud of ..in your life. Choosing the name "oceanFrogs" has been one of them.

With $1.2 billion in TV-video advertising already sold for the Paris Olympics, NBCUniversal is on track to reel in record revenue for the event, with less than four months to go before it begins. The previous record of $1.25 billion was set by the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics, which was held a year later due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Major category ad-revenue gains for this event are coming from marketers including non-alcoholic beverage brands, consumer packaged goods, financial services, retail and entertainment, according to Dan Lovinger, president of Olympic/paralympic partnerships at NBCUniversal. Ok, I promise: last post about the trip to Guadalajara! Let's close with my favorite sports team: Chivas de Guadalajara. ( I had the opportunity to go to the inauguration game two weeks ago) As a context, Chivas is the greatest team in Mexico (ok, some other fans may jump at me now). 2 reasons why they are great: 1 - They play just with Mexican players (well, one of the last additions is questionable) 2 - They produce most of their talent in-house instead of getting external players 2 reasons why they have not won a championship in the last 7 years: 1 - They play just with Mexican players (by policy, they don't have access to foreign talent) 2 - They produce most of their talent in-house (which means they don't rely on external talent) 🤔 How in the world relates to Software Engineering and QA in your company? Wanting to do everything in-house and grow internal talent has a lot of merits! But be aware that it may take you longer and more resources to get to the goal (vs. bringing experts to help in the ramp-up and learning curve)

We moved on from a superstar employee. He was one of our top producers. A dental rockstar, crushing targets and making us revenue. So, why did we let him go? Because talent IS NOT everything. Within 90 days, we realized he didn't align with two of our core values: ‘Will to Win’ and ‘Bring the Fire.’ 🔥 This superstar's fire only burned for his OWN glory. He wasn't interested in lifting others up or contributing to our positive culture. He only wanted to WIN for HIMSELF, not the entire team. So, we made the tough call. We said goodbye to one of our top producers. 👋 And guess what? Our practice is THRIVING more than ever before. Our team is more cohesive, more motivated, and more passionate about what they do. We learned a valuable lesson: Culture fit trumps individual talent. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. We'll take a B-level producer with an A+ attitude over a superstar who doesn't share our values. Because when everyone is rowing in the same direction, magic happens. Are you building a team of superstars or a team of collaborators? 🤔
