You only dance with Prom queen twice a day. The importance of a thorough Pre-trip and post trip inspection. Drivers are the Fleet and Shops eyes and ears on their tractor and trailer. Being VERY thorough is the key. Too many times I have seen drivers pencil whip an inspection. This not only jeopardizes the driver and his CDL, but the Company’s DOT number not to mention the general public. The reason for doing the inspections are to put eyes and document needed repairs. This is when the 3 person sign off comes into play. Driver puts the vehicle OOS, mechanic completes the repair, driver puts the vehicle back in service. Safety items should NEVER be e deferred. It’s better to err on the side of caution than to risk a on road stop and inspection.

International Roadcheck starts today and ends May 16th. While it might seem challenging, especially for new drivers, here's some advice to get through the check. 1️⃣ Firstly, make sure that your truck is in good condition. This year's Roadcheck emphasizes anti-lock braking systems, so verify that your ABS functions correctly. 2️⃣ Load securement will undergo scrutiny, so it's essential to double-check that your load is properly secured. 3️⃣ If you're pulled over during the check, remain calm. Expect a Level I inspection, which is the most comprehensive type. Typically, this inspection takes about an hour. The 37-step inspection procedure, available for download from the CVSA website, is a valuable resource for understanding each step. 4️⃣ While not all violations result in being placed out of service, critical inspection items such as braking, tires, and steering components will influence whether you receive a CVSA decal. 5️⃣ Lastly, it's important to maintain patience and cooperation during the inspection. While being pulled over is likely, it doesn't necessarily indicate wrongdoing on your part. In conclusion, conduct a thorough pre-trip inspection, ensure your logbook is up-to-date, and stay prepared for the road check. #roadcheck #trucking #safety #saferoad #roadsafety #owneroperators #dryvan

One wonders how this has been allowed to happen. Towing a trailer has some serious potential for being involved in a crash. Heavy vehicle drivers have that element of training knowledge and continuing experience. Caravans and boats etc are only used a few times a year. Some are incorrectly weight distributed and that can create problems in handling and stability. Endorsing drivers for towing will improve their ability to operate safely with this extra knowledge.

Most overlooked item on a trailer inspection: the king pin! 💡 During a recent assignment, I had a conversation with a trailer mechanic performing a DOT inspection. Surprisingly, when I asked about checking the upper coupler and king pin, he admitted they had been overlooked. Notably, a simple pullover test on the king pin was missed. This led to a crucial discussion at our maintenance meeting, resulting in the purchase of a tool for all 11 shops. Ensuring the safety of our drivers, products, and the general public is paramount. Remember, checking with the tool is essential to receive a clear go or no-go signal. Let's prioritize safety in all our inspections! 🚚🔧 #SafetyFirst #TrailerInspection #DOTSafety

Helping Trucking Companies Find Quality Truck Drivers to Hire Online Without Using Traditional Advertising. Family Man l Auto Hauler l Mentor
Yesterday I was talking to one of my good trucker friend who is an owner operator. He had to go to the mechanic due to a DEF system issue. He stopped by 2 nearby mechanic shops to get it fixed. Both of them were approximately a couple hours wait time. Instead of waiting, he drove 2 1/2 hours to his mechanic shop where he serviced his truck. Even though the mechanics were busy working on other trucks, one of the mechanics stopped what they were doing to work on my friends truck. Long story short, after working on his truck for 4 hours to fix the problem, he asked the mechanic how much is the bill? He replied: "Get outta here, bro" In other words, the bill is zero dollars. So I asked him, do you know why you didn't have to wait and didn't pay a dime? "Because of how I treat them" Yup! Whether in personal or professional life, it pays to be good to others and build quality relationships with people. What is one lesson you get from this? #relationship #truckdriver #trucking

The most unappreciated group in America. Yet without them the country would be at a standstill. From big rigs to small commercial drivers. No truckers no food or supplies. We understand this which is the reason why we do what we do to help protect them on and off the road. There are now an increast of soment truckers! Big Rig. Moms and "cat ladies" 😊 Know a trucker? Heres what we do. https://lnkd.in/eqrF3KTn #commercialdriver #truckers #cdl #trackertrailer

Brake issues are like hurdles in a race - they sideline more trucks than anything else. In fact, during the CVSA Brake Safety Week in 2023, 25.2% of out-of-service violations were brake-related. From August 25-31, it’s all about checking those brake pads and linings to ensure we’re road-ready. Here’s your pit stop checklist: 🏁 Inspect Your Brakes: Look out for wear and tear, like checking for grooves and leaks. 🏁 Maintain Proper Clearance: Ensure enough lining on the shoe and keep an eye out for cracks and rust. 🏁 Stay Ahead of the Curve: Follow CVSA standards to race past those inspections without a hitch. Focus on your maintenance routine now to avoid pit stops later! 🛠 #BrakeSafetyWeek #TruckMaintenance #CVSA #RoadSafety #BrakeInspection #TruckSafety #MaintenanceChecklist #TruckingLife #FreightSafety #Truckers #BrakeCheck #SafetyFirst #Hurdles #PitStop #TruckingCommunity #DriverSafety #MaintenanceRoutine #KeepTruckin #OTRLife #TruckDriverLife
