Gratitude and New Beginnings: A Journey of Endless Possibilities As my husband and I embark on an exciting new chapter at Stanford, designed for seasoned professionals eager to explore new ventures, I'm reflecting on the profound journey that has led us here, filled with gratitude for every experience and every individual who has been a part of my path. From the sports world—coaches, trainers, and teammates in volleyball, handball, marathons and various endurance sports—you taught me the essence of both victory and defeat. You instilled in me the values of discipline, resilience, and the importance of embracing diversity and challenges. These lessons have been invaluable in every stride of my life. In the technology sector, where I spent some of my most gratifying years, I was fortunate to collaborate with mentors, managers, experts, CEOs, and dynamic teams. Each of you played a crucial role in shaping my professional journey and personal growth. To the partners and consultants in the consultancy firms we built, your partnership in driving leadership development and managing organizational culture has been transformative. I am equally grateful to the executives, CEOs, and board members who provided me with opportunities to learn and grow, enriching my life with their wisdom and trust. My family, my children and grandchildren, remain my greatest inspiration and motivation, constantly reminding me of the joy and youth that life perpetually offers. As we step into this unique program at Stanford, I am eager to dive into the unknown, already envisioning the vast opportunities that lie ahead. Life is truly as abundant as our dreams and as expansive as our willingness to pursue them. Here's to embracing the new cycles life offers, filled with learning, growth, and the excitement of the unknown. #LifeJourney #Gratitude #ContinuousLearning #Stanford #NewBeginnings

Professor of Higher Education at Morgan State University & Senior Exe Vice President, STAR Scholars, Maryland | Fulbright Specialist- Australia
🌟 Exciting Collaborations on the Horizon! 🌟 🤝 I had the wonderful opportunity to meet with professors and leaders from UniSQ---Dr Lee Fergusson, Dr Susan Carter, Prof. Odette Best, Prof. Georgina Barton and explore potential research partnerships and collaborations between Morgan State University and University of Southern Queensland in collaboration with the STAR Scholars Network. The discussions were filled with enthusiasm and possibilities for joint projects that could benefit both institutions and the broader education community. 🎯 UniSQ's research clusters, with a focus on pedagogy, learning innovation, student experience, and community connections, caught our attention right away. These clusters provide a structured platform for researchers to delve into their interests more effectively. Moreover, we discovered our shared passion for exploring teacher well-being and its impact on student experiences – a vital area for enhancing the education landscape. 📚 Co-editing book series and collaborating on publications with scholars from both institutions emerged as an exciting prospect. This endeavor promises to enhance the visibility of our research and foster collaboration among faculty members. 🌍 Another promising avenue for collaboration lies in research related to international student well-being and experiences. As we exchanged ideas, it became evident that this collaboration could yield valuable insights for the global education community. 💼 Additionally, we discussed the potential for joint grant applications to support research initiatives and explored the possibility of hosting an international conference at UniSQ. Such a conference would not only showcase the outstanding work of our faculty but also provide valuable networking opportunities. #CollaborationOpportunities #ResearchPartnerships #Education #UniSQ #MorganStateUniversity #STARscholars #Pedagogy #StudentExperience #TeacherWellbeing #InternationalStudents #Conference #AcademicCollaborations

"It is concerning, then, that students who grow up in wealthy families are more likely to attend Ivy-Plus schools, even after taking academic qualifications into account. Among middle-class high school students who score at the 99th percentile on the SAT or ACT, roughly 10% attend an Ivy-Plus university. But among ultrarich students with identical test scores, nearly half attend one of the twelve most elite schools." - What you know: Matters very little - Who you know: Matters a lot - How much money you have: Matters the absolute most Higher education in this country is a booming elitist business. Major kudo to the community colleges, and some state schools. Doing the work to try to level the playing field.
America’s most elite colleges serve as gateways to positions of wealth and power. The twelve most prestigious private schools (the Ivy League plus the University of Chicago, Stanford University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Duke University), represent just 0.8% of college students. https://trib.al/v70yHsy
