The University Relations and Media teams enjoyed their time in Phoenix with our partners from NIRSA for their 2024 conference. In addition to connecting with hundreds of new friends at our Expo booth, Grayson Hopp led an educational session where she moderated a discussion around Generating Revenue through Sponsorship with panelists from Virginia Tech, North Carolina Central University, University of Washington, and Kennesaw State. 115 engaged audience members from campuses across the US and Canada listened in as we talked through how they can create opportunities for brands to meaningfully integrate into their recreation and wellness facilities.

Executive Producer, Live Content at Zillow 🎉 Event Production Enthusiast 🏆 Smart Women in Meetings Innovator winner 💁🏻♀️ Vegas recommender
One of my goals this year is creating DEIA guidelines for our events at Zillow. This is something I'm passionate about personally and has been more on my mind since the launch of theneuproject.com a few years ago. There are a few things I'm keeping top of mind: - How can we anticipate what others may need and want to feel included? The onerous shouldn't be on the individual to request accommodations. - What are ways we can offer options so people can select what is best for them? Let's make it personal! - It doesn't have to happen all at once. Small things can make a BIG difference. Thinking through options doesn't cost anything but does take effort and awareness. I'm excited to take this first step, to see what I discover, and implement new options to help make our events more inclusive and accessible. What are ways you're seeing DEIA embraced in the Events industry?

The FOMO is real. I'm seeing this list of events expand and crossing my fingers that I can get to something outside of LA this year. 🤞 If you're planning an event, please do add it! (So that, selfishly, I can put it on my calendar. 😁 ) #community #cmgr #communitystrategy

Fractional CMO for Impact-Focused B2C Brands | Speaker & Educator on Sustainable Marketing | Founder of The Green Marketing Academy™ 🌎
One of the highlights of attending the B Lab U.S. & Canada Champions Retreat last week was meeting and speaking with Helen N. , Vice President of Social Impact at Prose, one of my favorite B Corps. She spoke about the delicate intersection of social impact and marketing, which is a topic on which I continually educate myself and my clients. My question to Helen was "What are the challenges that you face in your role and department when it comes to advocacy in marketing?" Her advice was summarized as follows: -Create policies and procedures within your marketing department that address low, medium and high issues of sensitivity in order to practice consistency -With every piece of content that is created, be sure that it is connected back to one of your company's core pillars -Always prioritize and support lived experiences within your messaging and marketing channels For others who are in the social impact space, does this advice resonate with you? Would you add anything? #prose #businessasaforceforgood #bcorpmovement #socialimpact

Theresa Winters, the 420th person I've met on my quest to have lunch with 500 strangers, has found a simple yet profound way to make a difference. Theresa is the Dean of the Sydney chapter of Awesome Foundation Sydney, which gives $1,000 no-strings-attached grants to people or groups pursuing impactful projects. Theresa and the other 10 Trustees award one grant per month and fund the grants themselves (by each contributing $100 per month). Most recently, The Awesome Foundation granted $1,000 to the Old Fitz Theatre to buy photography equipment, hire a photographer and host affordable headshot sessions for creatives. It's hard to succeed as a creative without high-quality headshots – but the price can be out of reach for emerging actors, artists and musicians. As Theresa said, this grant may contribute to the emergence of the next Cate Blanchett or Nicole Kidman. Theresa loves the powerful compounding effect that can occur when you give even a modest amount of money to the right recipient at the right time. For her day job, Theresa works in the Alumni team at University of Technology Sydney, which nurtures a community of over 200,000 former UTS students, through a mix of social events and professional development opportunities. Theresa is someone whose lived experience has taught her the importance of relationships. She grew up on a farm outside Chicago, spent time studying in the UK, and has lived in New Zealand, Melbourne and, since 2016, Sydney. Wherever she’s gone, she’s had to keep making new friends. This is relatively easy as a child but can be very hard as an adult, when people already have largely fixed social circles. One way Theresa nurtures her existing relationships is by hosting an annual colour-themed picnic, where guests wear clothing and bring food and drink of a particular colour. The last event had a yellow theme; the next one will be green. What an awesome idea. #networking #relationships *** Follow the #500lunches hashtag to read about all 500 of my lunches ***

Are you between 18 and 35 and eager to connect with like-minded professionals in the manufacturing industry? This is your chance to be part of a dynamic community that’s all about networking, learning, and growing together. Join us for a spook-tacular event hosted by CME's Young Adults in Manufacturing Committee! 📅 Date: October 24th, 2024 📍 Location: Kilter Brewing Co. | 450 Rue Deschambault 💲 Cost: $20 per person (includes one beer!) Halloween costumes encouraged! Why attend? Our Young Adult Manufacturing Network project is dedicated to empowering young professionals with opportunities to: • Network with peers and industry leaders. • Share insights and ideas. • Develop presentation and speaking skills. • Access valuable training opportunities. The manufacturing industry is facing a critical challenge: the sector is expected to see 40,000 retirements per year between 2024 and 2031. In Manitoba, young adults aged 20 to 34 make up 32% of the overall workforce, but only 26% of the manufacturing workforce. Meanwhile, 27% of factory workers were aged 55 and over in 2023, a sharp increase from just 9% in 2000. By focusing on young talent, we can bridge the growing skills gap and secure the future of manufacturing. Tickets are limited to 30—secure yours now: https://lnkd.in/g24mF5br For sponsorship opportunities, reach out to caitlyn.bachinski@cme-mec.ca A big shoutout to our committee members: Maulene Ragat Amanda Morgan Mitchell DeFehr and Caitlyn Bachinski for making this event possible! We can’t wait to see you there—don’t forget your costume!
