🕑 As I mark two years at THIRTY4/7 Communications, I was asked to give my thoughts on how planning and politics has changed in that time: 🗳 'Since I started at T47, the political landscape has changed significantly. We have had three UK prime ministers, two monarchs, two first ministers of Wales and Scotland respectively, Welsh local elections, and two (nearing three) sets of English local elections. And if that weren’t enough, we are months away from a general election which might lead to a change of government for the first time since 2010. 🏗 The election will take place with both major parties having swapped positions on planning and development. Previously, under Boris Johnson’s government, the Conservatives placed growth at the heart of their economic agenda, pledging to ‘Level Up’ the nations and regions with investment and infrastructure. Johnson himself also championed the need to ‘build better and build greener but…also build faster’. In response, Keir Starmer’s Labour Party then warned voters that ‘The Conservatives’ developers’ charter would sell off and sell out our communities.’, in an appeal to those concerned at the prospect of overdevelopment. 🏡 Come 2024, and the position of both parties has reversed. Rishi Sunak has sounded a more cautious note around development, notably ditching national housing targets and watering down net zero legislation. Keir Starmer, on the other hand, has placed economic growth at the heart of his programme for government, with commitments on undertaking planning reform, achieving 100% clean power by 2030, and delivering 1.5 million new homes across the next Parliament. Starmer even recently acknowledged that Johnson’s policy had ‘struck a chord’ with voters, conceding that ‘Levelling-up is a good ambition for Britain’ and committing to delivering the policy in its totality. 🗣 Politics, after all, is driven by competing coalitions of voters and certain fluidity is to be expected, though with Labour anticipated to form the next government, perhaps there is growing evidence that voters wish to see growth and development at the forefront of the policy debate.' #politics #policy #development #Keir #Starmer #Boris #Johnson #Rishi #Sunak #Labour #Conservatives #communications

A people leader supporting technical engineering teams through the delivery of complex major transportation projects
It was fantastic to share Paul Clarke's huge 50th year anniversary with WSP in New Zealand yesterday (WOW!!) and it made me reflect on whether we will see these sort of impressive milestones in the future? At present it feels more common for people to frequently move between companies for the pursuit of better opportunities, higher salaries, and personal growth. Whilst companies should try their best to retain good people through ensuring they receive competitive salaries and are offering development, there are other benefits to the employee in staying in one place that are sometimes underestimated. Here are some other benefits that I have experienced having spent the past 12 years with a single business; 1) An ability to build strong and lasting relationships with colleagues resulting in a healthier workplace and better collaboration. 2) A deeper understanding of its culture and operations (which is also a benefit to the company in continuity of good culture). 3) Confidence to challenge the norm due to deeper feeling of personal investment in the business. 4) Better opportunities for development due to the companies clearer knowledge and trust of you, your strengths and what you can get done! 5) More long term satisfaction through experiencing the companies journey, challenges and achievements. Once again, Congratulations Paul, it's been a real pleasure to have worked with and learnt from you and thanks for your impressive commitment to WSP.
Celebrating Paul Clark's 50 years of contribution at WSP was an honour. Not only is that an impressive feat in itself, but to do that for one organisation is extremely rare. Paul is deeply respected across the industry and can rightfully be proud of the legacy of projects in which he has been involved. What a fantastic team moment. Congratulations to Joy Sivilay on celebrating her 5-year anniversary with Hungerford Properties! Joy is a highly valued member of the team who demonstrates outstanding dedication, professionalism, and proficiency in her role as Development Accounts Coordinator. Joy is dependable, accountable and manages multiple tasks and deadlines with ease. Her positive attitude and ability to build trusting and engaging relationships across the organization is so appreciated and has a big impact on our collaborative team culture. Joy exemplifies the Hungerford values on a daily basis, and we thank her for all her contributions over the last 5 years. Q: What is your favourite part of your job? A: I love the people I work with and the enormous amount of autonomy I’m granted. I know my boss has my back 100% which allows me to do my job with confidence. I work with a group of talented, caring and supportive individuals, who come from all walks of life and have varying degrees of experience - I have learned so much from all of them. Q: What is your favourite thing to do on the weekends? A: SLEEP!!! I’m kind of joking. If the weather is bad, I love to curl up on the couch and binge watch my favorite TV shows/movie series and/or read a good book. If the weather is nice and the sun is out, I need to be outside. I’m either hiking, camping, playing beach volleyball/softball or just straight up suntanning. Q: What career advice would you give to your younger self? A: Try to work and surround yourself with people whose values align with your own. Gain as much experience and absorb as much information as you can from every job. Street knowledge is just as important as book knowledge and can’t be taught in a classroom – it only comes with experience. Also, success isn’t just measured by a salary and a title; it’s measured by who you are as a person and how you treat others. Never forget who you are, where you came from and the strength it took to get where you’re at. Q: What is a recent book or movie you would recommend? A: Everything Everywhere All at Once – it’s not recently released but it’s a movie that I would highly recommend. It’s weird, funny, action packed, emotionally charged; it’s a beautifully written/acted story about love and family. #MeettheTeam #HungerfordProperties

I help Students, Teachers and Schools who have challenge with Healthy Studying Habit get it Right. It takes one who knows the Way, take you through the Right Path.
BE A FAITHFUL STEWARD. Lessons from the TALENTS Part 2 Still drawing knowledge from our story in Matthew. 25:13-30, there is expectation on us to be faithful in our service delivery. We are taught the importance of using our abilities and resources (Talents) wisely. It encourages us to be faithful stewards. The big question is: Who is a Faithful Steward? A Faithful Steward is one who is responsible for the management of resources (both human and material). He is also required to make wise and ethical decisions, prioritizing the long-term benefits of such decisions, and ensuring that the entrusted resources are used for the good of the person who entrusted him with such authority. From the story it was clear that the stewards were entrusted with the resources to make gains for their master. Whereas, two servants showed faithfulness, the other one was unfaithful. Every act of unfaithfulness usually attract severe punishment. He was striped of his resources and severely beaten. The main and often outstanding reward for faithfulness is PROMOTION. We must strive to be faithful stewards for in it lies our Promotion and advancement. As we begin another working week, let's endeavour to show ourselves as Faithful Stewards both as Employers and Employees. I will be pleased to learn from your views and comments on this post. Let's Connect and Grow together. Also activate your Notification sign to get informed of my new post.
