What are three of the most common underlying issues that are likely to lead to moisture related issues? 👉 Lacking or compromised damp-proof moisture barrier under the slab-on-ground. This is because the deterioration or absence of a moisture barrier below the slab allows the moisture in the soil to be in physical contact with the slab, which can lead to the migration of moisture in the soil through the substrate via capillary action. 👉 Compromised or lacking positive side waterproofing. For example, if a brick or block wall is below ground, it may have issues with compromised or absent waterproofing on the exterior. 👉 Poor drainage around the foundation. The reason why inadequate drainage can lead to moisture-related issues is because it can allow water to seep into the foundation.
