Project & Accounts Manager | Marketing & Communications Professional | Relationship Builder | USF St. Petersburg Assistant Director of Events | MPI Tampa Bay President 2022-2023
I feel humbled, shocked, excited, proud, all the above, as Meeting Professionals International awarded MPI Tampa Bay Area Chapter today with 'Top Performing Chapter', acknowledging my leadership of the Board of Directors and team over the past year and a half. It’s been an incredibly rewarding experience planning events with the region’s top hospitality players at the coolest venues, designing countless marketing campaigns, and leading such an amazing group of talented individuals. I took over as president-elect in 2021, then chapter president in 2022 in unprecedented times. The world, and the hospitality industry especially, was still recovering from the pandemic. Our volunteer pool dwindled like many other associations. It was the challenge of a lifetime to rebuild the chapter—from creating a new culture to re-engaging our members, while trying to introduce new initiatives...I'm so thankful for the Board of Directors and our amazing chapter administrator that I had the privilege of leading during the 2022-2023 year (with 6 additional months extended to my term). The future of the chapter is bright under the 2023-2024 MPI Tampa Bay Board of Directors. The lean, pandemic-era leadership from 2020-2023 kept it afloat to ensure the next generation can keep it roaring back stronger than ever. We successfully re-engaged our members, launched new initiatives, highlighted new properties in the Tampa Bay region, offered CEU accredited programs on topics such as the State of the Travel Industry 2023, Networking, Event Risk Management, Generations in the Workforce, #DigitalMarketing Trends, #EventSustainability in the Post-Pandemic Era, Inclusive & Accessible Events, and so much more. I couldn't imagine a better way to close out my term as president of MPI Tampa Bay 2022-2023. Cheers! 🥂 #thankful #MeetingsMeanBusiness #MPI #Leadership #Community #TopPerformingChapter

“Conferences, trade shows, they're important in any industry…where else can you spend two, three days learning, networking, meeting new people, spending quality time with people that you already know. Whether it's a conference for 50 people, 500 people, or 5,000 people, you're definitely going to get a lot out of it. I would say go to as many conferences and events as you can…It is the best use of my time…especially if you are moving up the ladder in your industry, it's a great way to network and get out there and be exposed to new people and new things.” Harry Javer, Founder and President, The #LodgingConference WATCH NOW: https://lnkd.in/gYvAnH52 LISTEN NOW: https://lnkd.in/gKDxV3Dg Harry shares with Rachel Humphrey of DEI Advisors how concert and event production experience led to founding The Lodging Conference. He discusses evaluating risk and how overcoming each challenge prepares him for the next challenge. Harry talks about public speaking, skill development, and continuous learning and the importance of each for career growth. And Harry shares why he'd tell his younger self to "chill out." #diversityandinclusion #deiadvisors #leadership #hospitalityindustry #empoweringpersonalsuccess #dei

We want to take this opportunity to thank all those who joined us for our in-person event in London yesterday focused on how we can apply a coaching approach to international development. We also thank Crown Agents for doing such a fabulous job in hosting this event and to Paul Wafer for chairing the session. We appreciated the thoughts shared by the panellists: Ben French, Sarah-Jane Marriott (ICF PCC), Mark Keen and Tina Maria Saeteraas Stoum and for the insightful comments and questions from those who joined us. Some of the highlights that stood out for me were: --> for an industry built on technical knowledge and an 'expert' driven approach, how do we encourage those who work in this sector to adopt a more humble approach where their expertise may be used in partnership with others? What's the shift that needs to happen in our own ways of thinking and working with others? --> even when more people are recognising that we need to move away from a linear and externally driven approach to programming, to build trusting relationships with partners, the funding process and operational side of things is still not set up to work in this more adaptive or innovative way. --> those working in this sector (particularly those with white privilege or other forms of privilege) need to be more aware of the power that they hold and look for people to share it with. This is particularly important as we look for ways to actively #decolonise the sector and #shiftthepower. I would love to hear from those who joined us yesterday on what insights you might have come away with, and any thoughts you have on where we go next with this conversation Jo Kemp (ICF ACC), Jo Elms, Jessica Noon, Astrid Korin, Benjamin Salt, Alexandra Nastase, Tobechukwu Nneli, Agnes (Aggie) Nakirya, John Morgan, Toby Arul-Pragasam, Matt Pocock, Leanne Marega, née Kennedy, Emma Sauvanet, Sanum Jain, Amardeep Kainth, Cathal Long, Pavlo Cherednychenko, Zehra Zaidi, Mélody Barreau, Denise Nishimwe, Somanah Achadoo MBA CMgr FCMI, Pia MacRae, Karen Abbs, Renee Kantelberg, Melissa Nicholson, Harrison McCartney, Cameron Kirkpatrick, Barry Smith, Chris Hearle, Fergus Drake OBE #coachingmindset #humility #partnership #trust

🌟 Reflecting on the HBA New England Executive Exchange Year-End Event 🌟 I am delighted to share the highlights of the exceptional HBA New England Executive Exchange Program Year-End Event hosted by Alkermes. The theme, "Leverage Leader Allies in our United Force for Change," brought forth invaluable insights, and I'm thrilled to spotlight some key takeaways: 🚀 Kanchan Relwani, one of our own, shared a profound piece of advice: "Make time for mentoring/coaching - a few minutes of engagement with someone can make a huge impact on their careers and life in general." A reminder that small acts of guidance can lead to monumental transformations. 💡 Networking is Your Networth: We reaffirmed the significance of our professional networks, recognizing that they are indeed our net worth. Building and nurturing relationships is a currency that pays dividends in personal and career growth. 🤝 Proactive Relationship Building: The event emphasized the importance of reaching out and building relationships not just when we need assistance but as an ongoing practice. True allies are cultivated through consistent engagement. 🌟 Surrounding Ourselves with Brilliance: Prioritizing connections with individuals who genuinely care, embrace a growth mindset, and uplift one another is of utmost importance. These allies propel us forward and advocate for our success. This year-end event was a resounding success, fostering an atmosphere of collaboration, learning, and empowerment. It reminded us of the power we hold when we unite to drive positive change within our teams and organizations. Let's continue to leverage the wisdom gained and the connections forged to make lasting impacts in our professional journeys. Together, we are an unstoppable force for change! #hbaimpact Sara Misch, Ellie Eckhoff, PCC, Carol B., Jessica Blaustein, Madeline Coffin, Hilliary Van Voorhies, M.S., Katie Joyce, Janine Shea, Gretchen Murphy
