We're calling on our incredible Ambassadors to join forces and collect book and raise funds to distribute 10,000 books across the Spots **Ambassadors:** To collect at least 200 books per university for our community Spots in Ghana and Kenya. 📚 **Why is it important?** Access to books opens up a world of knowledge and possibilities for children and communities. By collecting and donating books, we're helping to foster a lifelong love for learning. 💪 **How can you participate?** 1. **Gather Books**: Reach out to your local community, schools, or libraries to collect gently used books for all ages. 2. **Spread the Word**: Share the challenge with your friends, family, and social networks to encourage book donations. 3. **Track Progress**: Keep a count of the books collected and share your progress with us. 4. **Donation Day**: On a designated day, arrange for the books to be donated to an EduSpots Spot near you. 🏆 **What's in it for you?** Besides the satisfaction of making a real impact, the Ambassador or University with the most books collected will be recognized as our Ambassador of the Month! Scenario 1: A local NGO donated $10,000 to support community development projects in a rural area. The funds were allocated to various initiatives, such as infrastructure improvements, vocational training programs, and healthcare services. Scenario 2: Mwikali, a 10-year-old girl from Kunikila village in Kenya, used to walk several miles to school every day on an empty stomach. Her family struggled to afford basic necessities, and Mwikali often went hungry. However, thanks to a generous donation from a local NGO, Mwikali now receives a nutritious meal every day at school. Since the launch of our bookstores with social purpose LoveReading and LoveReading4Kids has donated £60,000 of free books to schools, and we want to do more.  We need to do more. With your help we can. With a community of 300,000 booklovers, including 14,000 schools, we are supporting over 5 million children per year. It has become clear that as a small organisation, we don’t have the resources we need to support all of the schools who so desperately need our help. Over 770 schools with severe deprivation have already applied for our Funding for Schools scheme, showing how widespread the challenges are with funding literacy. We are calling out for additional partners to help us fund more books in schools. Because reading matters and books change lives. We understand the importance of social value and as an organisation with social purpose ourselves, we are keen to work with partners who place significant credence in it. Culture enriches our soul, Travel changes lives. The more we learn about our world, the more fulfilled our lives can be. Many young people are trapped by poverty, but poverty is not limited to financial opportunity. It is also the poverty of never seeing the countryside, never experiencing another culture. Travel promotes equality and inclusion and can often be a turning point in a young person’s life, providing different perspectives and stimulating exploration.   🗼 Children of middle-class parents have access to a vast array of people who can help them on their way. Want to be a doctor, lawyer, business owner? Those parents will know someone who can help and will rightly use these networks to help their children. What about children who have no parents, or in an orphanage?  How do we use our networks for them too? Relationships change people’s lives. No access to books? Is that even possible in the 21st century? The answer is simple yet unpleasant: Yes, there are many people in rural areas throughout #europe who lack access to newly published books. In Azerbaijan, our member Kitabistan has a commendable initiative aimed at addressing the imbalance between big cities and small villages in terms of access to books. Through the 'Let’s make our way to the villages' campaign, our colleagues visit remote regions, encourage the youth to read, donate books to libraries and schools, and support the establishment of new libraries in those areas.
