It’s often the hard conversations that are the most important ones. And we’re the first to say that talking about diversity, especially beyond gender, can indeed be hard. But oh so crucially important. That’s why we’re proud to co-host the “Kickstarting the conversation” event at this year’s Diversity Week in Aarhus, together with our friends over at Dreamcraft Ventures, People Ventures and of course Startup Aarhus. An event focusing on how we can rise above the current diversity discussion, and move beyond the focus on gender, so we can build a truly inclusive ecosystem. To be frank, we know we’re not the right people to offer insights and experience on this matter. That's why we're really looking forward to listen and learn from this years panel, who we're sure can can reveal our blindspots and biases in a split-second: ▶︎ Deepali Nangia, Partner and Investor at Speedinvest ▶︎ Geet Khosla, Co-founder & CEO of proemial ▶︎ Solveig Viktoria Lawaetz, Co-founder & CEO of IVITAL ApS Moderated by Nina Ulrik Jensen, Co-founder of Decision Makers. Join us on February 5th, 14.00-16.30! Sign up here: https://lnkd.in/dUPNRw69. After the event, we’ll continue the conversation down to a local bar to toast on diversity - check it out ▶︎https://lnkd.in/dUD3gDPE

🌟 Celebrating Pride Month: Arlan Hamilton’s Impactful Journey 🌟 As we celebrate Pride Month, Integrated Staffing is honored to spotlight Arlan Hamilton, a visionary investor who champions the underrepresented in the tech industry. 🌈💼 Arlan is the founder and managing partner of Backstage Capital, a venture fund dedicated to investing in “underestimated founders.” Her commitment to diversity and inclusion is evident in her bold initiative to raise a $36 million fund specifically for black female founders in 2018. 🚀👩🏾💼 Named one of the most powerful LGBTQ+ people in tech by Business Insider in 2019, Arlan’s influence extends beyond investments. Her book, ‘It’s About Damn Time,’ published in 2020, has ignited a movement, especially among black women entrepreneurs, serving as a powerful “call to arms” against systemic inequality. 📚✊🏾 Arlan’s stark reminder that “less than 10% of all venture capital deals go to Women, People of Color, and LGBT founders” is not just a statistic—it’s a call to action. She tirelessly works to bridge this gap, ensuring that innovation and opportunity are accessible to all, regardless of gender, race, or sexual orientation. Let’s take inspiration from Arlan Hamilton this Pride Month and every month thereafter. By advocating for equality and investing in diversity, we can all contribute to a tech industry that is as vibrant and diverse as the community it serves. 💡🏳️🌈 #PrideMonth #ArlanHamilton #BackstageCapital #DiversityInTech #InclusiveInvesting #IntegratedStaffing

Here at The Queer Livelihoods Project, we're dedicating our energy and efforts towards closing the LGBTQ+ wealth gap by providing support for Queer artists and designers. For us, our values inform the kinds of activities and opportunities we engage in and we want to be transparent about what those values are: 1️⃣ Decolonizing the Queer experience --- We are aligned with the folks who are challenging Western assumptions about what it means to be Queer outside of the West. You can expect us to amplify Queer art from around the globe and provide education around what decolonizing Queerness looks like through our work and personal stories. 2️⃣ Advancing Equity through Art and Culture --- We are aligned with the folks who are uplifting Queer art that contributes to social movements and pushes the cultural narrative around our needs beyond human rights policies (even though we agree with their importance). You can expect us to describe the everyday impact of various policies in the lives of Queer artists and to amplify the ways that art can shift the culture in a way that policies may not be able to. 3️⃣ Creating Economic Empowerment --- We are aligned with the folks who are co-creating ways for Queer artists and designers to sustain themselves financially through their art. You can expect us to identify the economic barriers that make it harder for LGBTQ+ artists to do their art for a living and to share ways that we are supporting Queer artists in overcoming those barriers through direct funds, personalized support, and networking. 4️⃣ Centering Local Community Wisdom --- We are aligned with the folks who are prioritizing the needs and designers of Queer artists, on the ground, first and foremost. You can expect us to highlight the ways local Queer artists are redefining "the traditional art scene" based on where they live and to make decisions based on what real people, not normally associated with big organizations or humanitarian efforts, need to sustain their art and their livelihoods.

Deon Pillay: Head of Marketing Technology, Enablement & Governance . Speaker, multi-award-winning DEI champion, InterInvest LGBT+ allies network co-founder, mentor, accredited life coach. 🏆🌈
Building on our internal theme of allyship, we want to extend a massive thank you to InterInvest LGBT+ equality and inclusion Allyship Working Group for their interactive and engaging intersectional allyship training programme. As one of the co-founders of InterInvest, the first LGBTQ+ network dedicated to the asset management and savings industry, I am extremely proud of the fantastic work being done by Alison Proud Claire Mediene and Tom Whateley, CAIA and team. Intersectionality is crucial in our journey toward becoming effective allies. Intersectionality acknowledges that people's experiences of discrimination and privilege are shaped by multiple, overlapping social identities, such as race, gender, sexuality, and class. Effective allyship involves recognising these intersecting identities and addressing the unique challenges faced by those at their intersections. Key Actions Allies Should Take: Educate Yourself: Continuously learn about different identities and the systemic issues affecting marginalised groups. Listen Actively: Engage in conversations with an open mind and a willingness to understand others' perspectives. Advocate: Use your platform to amplify marginalised voices and challenge discriminatory behaviors and policies. Reflect: Regularly reflect on your own biases and actions, striving for continuous personal growth. Support: Offer tangible support, whether through mentorship, sponsorship, or creating inclusive environments. The Gender Unicorn and Allyship Pledge The Gender Unicorn is a valuable tool for understanding the complexities of gender identity, gender expression, and attraction. It helps allies grasp the non-binary nature of gender and recognize the diversity of experiences within the LGBTQ+ community. Our colleagues took the Allyship Pledge, a call on everyone to commit to ongoing learning, active support, and advocacy for all marginalised groups, ensuring that our workplace is inclusive and equitable for everyone. A heartfelt thank you to our Legal & General colleagues for their enthusiastic participation and willingness to share their knowledge and experiences. Your contributions are invaluable in fostering a culture of inclusivity and allyship within our organisation. Together, we are building a more inclusive industry and paving the way for future generations. Let's continue this important work with dedication and compassion. About Diversity: Pride Month June, it is a time dedicated to honoring the LGBTQIAPN+ community, recognizing their struggles, celebrating their achievements, and promoting equality and acceptance. Here's a summary of what Pride Month typically encompasses: - History and Commemoration: Pride Month originated from the Stonewall riots of June 1969, when LGBTQIAPN+ individuals protested against police raids at the Stonewall Inn in New York City. These riots sparked the modern LGBTQIAPN+ rights movement. Pride Month serves as a commemoration of these events and a reminder of the ongoing fight for equality. - Celebrations and Parades: Pride Month is marked by colorful and vibrant celebrations, including parades, marches, festivals, and parties in cities worldwide. These events are a chance for LGBTQIAPN+ individuals and allies to come together, express themselves, and show solidarity. - Activism and Advocacy: Pride Month is not just about celebration; it's also a time for activism and advocacy. Many organizations and individuals use this month to raise awareness about LGBTQIAPN+ rights issues, such as discrimination, violence, healthcare disparities, and legal equality. - Education and Visibility: Pride Month provides opportunities for education and visibility. It's a time to amplify LGBTQIAPN+ voices, share stories, and educate the public about the challenges faced by the community. Many organizations host workshops, panels, and discussions on LGBTQIAPN+ topics. - Corporate and Community Support: In recent years, there has been an increase in corporate and community support for Pride Month. Many businesses, organizations, and institutions show their support through sponsorships, rainbow-themed products, and LGBTQ+ inclusion initiatives. - Intersectionality: Pride Month also emphasizes intersectionality, recognizing that LGBTQIAPN+ individuals can face additional discrimination and marginalization based on factors such as race, ethnicity, gender identity, disability, and socio-economic status. Intersectional activism aims to address these intersecting forms of oppression. - Global Reach: While Pride Month originated in the United States, it has since become a global phenomenon, with celebrations held in countries around the world. However, the level of acceptance and visibility varies widely across different regions, with some places still experiencing significant discrimination and hostility towards LGBTQIAPN+ individuals. Overall, Pride Month is a time of reflection, celebration, and action, highlighting the progress made in LGBTQIAPN+ rights while acknowledging the work that still needs to be done to achieve full equality and acceptance for all.
