“You don’t sell yourself enough” Is something I hear far too often. When women are unsuccessful in securing career progression opportunities, this is usually the feedback they will receive from their line manager. Self-promotion is not something that comes naturally to many of us, it can often leave you feeling like a show off. With the right support it is possible to find a way to sell yourself in a way that feels authentically you, whilst still stepping out of the comfort zone and pushing yourself to achieve your career goals. Visibility matters and when it comes to reaching for those opportunities and making yourself known amongst colleagues, leadership teams and wider networks it can’t be underestimated.  Learning the skills, techniques and strategies to promote yourself and talk about what you do so that you are seen for the value you bring to the table is something I have helped many women and organisations to achieve through my RiSE programme for visible leadership. What’s the best piece of career by you’ve ever received? . Once, I attended a fancy meeting with folks who had very impressive titles. I recounted to David Dawkins that I felt intimidated to speak up or share my ideas 💡He told me, “Leadership is ASSUMED not APPOINTED.”💯 .
