We're approaching the peak of bullfighting and rodeo season — events that involve immense animal cruelty and suffering yet continue to be promoted and capitalized on by companies, tourism agencies, and even governments active on this platform. Society is slowly becoming enlightened about animal behaviour and their enthralling, complex sentience. This raises the question: why are rodeos and bullfights, which use, scare, manipulate, injure, and kill animals, still being presented as cultural and entertainment events? "We all need to speak up against animal uses in entertainment. Rodeos, circuses, bullfights, horse races - the animals do not choose to be carted around, separated, used, injured, or killed. The cultural excuse is a poor one. By definition, cultures evolve. It's time to live as the enlightened society that we can be and leave the use of animals in entertainment behind." – Jo-Anne McArthur, photojournalist, and We Animals Media founder What you can do ➡️ Speak up. Don't attend these events. Politely let tourism companies know these events should not be promoted. Encourage others to do the same. It's a great first step. Disgusting. This should be prohibited immediately. I cannot imagine how the minds of the people work who participate or pay to watch the abuse and mutilation of animals. I don't trust people that enjoy such practices. And the 'brave' matadors with their red cloths also know (I guess) that bulls do not see red, as they are dichromate. It is all just a sad show.

We just had a very stressed bull jump over a fence here at a local rodeo event. The incident led to the bull bring retired, thankfully I suppose. The "Wild West" culture is loaded with many other harms including hyper masculinity and colonialism. I look forward to the day that traditions and cultures are grounded in kindness, not violence.

What a shame! When I see those pictures with the bull being exhausted, probably disoriented and frightened, and covered in blood... this is so cruel, I don't understand why "traditions" don't evolve. Why are we still doing and promoting THIS? What does it say about us, humans?

The problem is that we think humans are civilized. Actually not at all! If you are looking for an evidence just have a look how we treat all animals and our own earth! Would civilized species do that? No. Would a positive developrment in the right direction possible with uncivilized and barbaric peolple? No. Not at all.

Says alot about those that find animal cruelty and suffering as entertainment. People like that have zero compassion or empathy.

An atrocious activity that makes us ashamed as humanity. Fortunately, the rejection of these cruel and sadistic shows is becoming increasingly clear. As in Colombia, where it was just announced this past May that a nationwide ban on bullfights will take effect starting in mid-2027. There is still much to do to eradicate violence against animals, but there is no doubt that this is the direction we must move toward. Thanks to everyone who dedicates part of their lives to promoting respect for all species. 🪷

This must stop! It's hard to even see the pictures and imagine all the suffering, fear and distress these bulls are going through. I admire your bravery for witnessing these scenes and bringing this issue to light. I hope these sensible images will help raise awareness and that people will stop condoning bullfighting/rodeos.

seriously this has to be banned NOW....how can humans sit there and watch the pain that these animals have to endure, this is disgusting. nothing... not tradition or history makes this unethical torture of animals OK...

Useless crying... the number of animals that die in rodeo's or bulldights is but a fraction of the nimber of sheep, goats etc that anually are slaugtered without sedation to satisfy eeligious nonsense... Stop bullfights.. yes.. bit also religious "halal" slaughter...
