With the costs of childcare reaching unprecedented levels, it’s no wonder the demand for part-time work is growing. For parents, working two or three days a week is the only way to stay within the workforce without paying full-time nursery fees. And for others, going part-time is the best way to look after their health while earning a living. Yet despite this, part-time work is still widely stigmatised – and those who work fewer hours are looked upon as less committed, lazy or unambitious. #parttimejobs #workingfromhome #workingparents #workingmums #childcare My latest for Yahoo Finance UK: https://lnkd.in/eywWnuxD

Childcare benefits make your workplace more competitive. They're at the top of the priority list for many talented candidates whose resumes come across my desk, and for good reason. Even before the pandemic, inadequate childcare was costing employers $13 billion a year in lost productivity. As a mom of three, this resonates with me deeply. Childcare benefits can also be an attractive solution to invite more of your team back to the office. These "total rewards" packages will attract top talent, AND help employees stay focused at work – while also feeling supported in their family goals. Shocking insights from our “Working Parents & Beyond” study 🤯 In recent weeks, we have learned a lot about the challenges parents face in the #JobMarket. Support from grandparents and daycare centers is sometimes essential. But do employers provide sufficient support? Our latest study "Working Parents & Beyond" teaches us: 😪 66% of respondents experience challenges when returning to work after parental leave - with an incredible 49% reporting that they receive no support at all from their employer. ↔️ Flexibility (84% for hours, 77% for locations) remains a top priority, along with childcare assistance (44%) 💸 A full 65% would even be willing to accept a lower salary if their employer was family-friendly. 📢 Our clear appeal to all employers out there: use flexibility and support parents in your company! This is the only way we can change the world of work and ensure a true work-life balance. If you want to read on the full scope of this topic, we highly recommend to read Susan Gritzka’s article as part of our “Working Parents & Beyond” study: https://lnkd.in/ejsksanE

According to BlckBx’s report, both working mothers and fathers are feeling the strain of juggling domestic, caring, and working responsibilities. Across all of those surveyed, the average amount of time spent on housework, coordinating childcare, helping with homework, planning and cooking meals, doing the school or nursery run, planning weekend activities, and looking after elderly parents was 15.2 hours per week. For a parent in full-time employment, that means almost a seven-day working week. This begs the question, how did my parents do it, and how did we manage ours? What are the differences between them, us, and the next generation's challenges? And the ways we dealt with it, and what price did each pay for their decisions/ways of handling it?

Helping employers to positively impact the well-being of #workingparents | Founder, President, CEO | Mom of 4
It’s about letting ALL employees know that they are trusted and valued for who they are, not just for what they do for the company. It lets parents honor both priorities in their lives - family and career. Plus, it can impact the bottom line by attracting and retaining talent and reducing turnover. #plusonemeetings #founder #childcare #benefits #workingmom #worklifereimagined
Flexibility is everything, especially for working parents. If you want to support your employees with families, start with flexibility. Creating a flexible workplace on when, where, and how much they work helps working parents reduce child care costs and better integrate professional and parental responsibilities. Did we mention that flexible working environments benefit both parents and non-parents? It’s a win-win. #plusonemeetings #childcare #childcarebenefits #workingparents #benefits #parents #hr #support #workforce #worklifeintegration #flexible #flexibility #benefits #workplace
