If your brand sells one cocktail per month in one bar, you need 12.5* to 17.5** bars to finish one bottle every month. 🤌🏻 👇🏻 Multiply that by 6 to finish one case. Now think differently: If you get that same bar to sell two cocktails per night, they will finish one bottle in a week (US) or nine days (EU). That is if it's a base spirit. If it's a modifier, amounts will be smaller and take longer. Distribution alone is not enough. You must build rotation. * In the US, a bottle is about 25oz (75cl), and a serving is 2oz. ** In Europe, a bottle is 70cl and a serve is usually 4cl.

The more cocktails with your brand a bar sells, the fewer bars you need to sell your first 1000 cases. It's non-debatable. Example: 🤌🏻 25 bars x 8 cocktails/day = 1000 cases 50 bars x 4 cocktails/day = 1000 cases 100 bars x 2 cocktails/day = 1000 cases 200 bars x 1 cocktail/day = 1000 cases 400 bars x 0.5 cocktails/day = 1000 cases .... Increasing distribution is hard. Increasing rotation is hard. Choose your hard. It's that simple.

Not too long ago the winners from North America's 50 Best Bars were released and our team did a deep dive into all 50 of these venues to see what common trends we could pull from the venues. North America still has a major sway in dictating cocktail culture for the rest of the world. Although this is less pronounced in 2024 than previously, we spend a lot of time researching what is happening across the pond to help us predict what trends will reach Europe and globally. From an industry perspective, what is great to see is the emergence of some of the world's best bars outside the USA mainland. Mexico is frankly crushing it with 13 of the Top 50 bars in Mexico including the North American No 1 cocktail bar Handshake Speakeasy. We have put together an insights piece that will launch with our rebrand in the coming weeks 👀 but here is a peak at some of our findings: 🥃 Asian Inspiration Rules It seriously rules. We lost count of how many bars had cocktails with Asian spirits or ingredients – it was jaw-dropping. Asian flavour is without a doubt the hot ticket in the USA in 2024. 😎 Merch Not something that can support your drinks programme and cocktail development but high-spec, culturally on-the-money merch is a big deal for bars across the Atlantic. Merch is certainly a trend we have seen in the USA that’s going big in other industries and many of the Top 50 are following suit. ☕ Tea As An Ingredient Tea is everywhere on the Top 50 list. And it's understandable. As a mixer, it has myriad variations and adds a complexity of flavour that other mixers should aspire to. No sweetness disrupting balance, just layers of flavour. Did Felix Hohlmann just reinvent Espresso? One thing is for sure: he definitely opened a new chapter for coffee research. Topic: vibration makes better Espresso. Instead of stirring the Espresso, he vibrated it - and the coffee DID taste differently. A lot. So much, that also untrained tasters noticed it. Felix used a vibrating plate and put his Espressi during his World Barista Championship routine on the plate for six seconds. The high frequency of the plate restructured the soluble found in the Espresso, what was proven by Chahan Yeretzian and Stefan Salentinig last week.
