A short FIGS history: 🎯 In 2013, launched on the Shopify Standard Plan 🎯 2014-2020, added Shopify payments, SHOP, Shopify shipping, grew to Shopify Plus, and expanded internationally. 🎯 In 2021, IPO’d 🎯 In 2022, generated more than $500M in net revenues almost entirely online Last week, they opened their first retail store. I’m thrilled their POS and online store is powered by Shopify. FIGS saw that healthcare workers were wearing scratchy, boxy, awful scrubs on grueling shifts. They took a product that was given no attention, scrubs, that some of the most important individuals on the planet wear daily, and reinvented it into technically advanced, high-performing, stylish products that healthcare workers love…and they built a thriving community. FIGS has redefined what scrubs should look and feel like. It’s why you see them on every healthcare professional. It has been an absolute joy to see FIGS grow, scale, evolve, and thrive over the last 10 years and this new store in LA is the perfect example of this. I may not have met the founders, but I remember when they started in the medical apparel world around 2014, the same time I was in the industry and also based in LA. Their rise to success was remarkable and it happened right before my eyes. Watching their success story unfold from the get-go has been truly inspiring. Back in the day, everyone was following the B2B2C model, with heavy reliance on retail, The URA show being the big event of the year. But these founders changed the game by selling directly to consumers, challenging the status quo. I remember discussing with my colleagues how this could be a game-changer if they nailed it. And nail it, they did! Not only did they cut out the middleman, but they also reinvented medical attire with chic, practical designs. Features like four-way stretch and moisture-wicking fabrics in trendy jogger cuts set them apart from the crowd. Despite facing legal challenges from established competitors, they persisted and proved themselves right. I watched their brand emerge as a trailblazer in a market that had been static for too long. Their story isn’t just about innovation and determination; it's a celebration of pushing boundaries and empowering women. Congrat to the team 🎉
