At the National League for Nursing, we condemn in no uncertain terms all efforts to undermine the right to vote, the right to peacefully assemble and protest, and the right to free speech. We applaud the U.S. Surgeon General's Office for issuing a first-of-its-kind advisory declaring firearm violence in America as a public health crisis. As the advisory concludes, it will take the collective commitment of the nation to turn the tide on this crisis. A public health approach has the potential to curb the alarming trends of firearm-related injury and death that we see in Colorado and across the country, which have devastating impacts to our physical and mental health. As we continue to champion a public health approach to firearm harm prevention in Colorado, Trailhead is excited to use our program office as a hub for building collaboration across the state and working alongside communities to enact solutions that work best for them. MRFF 2024: “Promoting Safer Families: Strengthening primary care to sustainably address domestic and family violence”   We are proud to announce we will be leading this world-first trial on generating evidence for DFV women victim-survivor's outcomes from a primary care system intervention.     Funded through the Medical Research Future Fund Primary Health Care Grant we will evaluate the impact on women’s mental health and sense of safety from implementing novel interventions in general practice (including Medicare item for family safety assessment planning, clinical decision tool for GPs and peer care navigator to support affected women) #DFV #research #primarycare #generalpractice

The power of testimony in Congress or committee hearings can reap many benefits for the nation's health. These procedures are often foreign to the general population and many professions who have the opportunity to raise a voice in legislation. For those interested in making change by advocating for legislative policies, check this video out to witness a glorifying testimony by Jelly Roll on a topic that hits home to him. Nurses, doctors, social workers, mental health professionals, and ALL other professions must receive education within their curriculums to understand the importance of policy advocacy to make appropriate changes for the ones they serve. By providing facts that initially emphasized the problem at hand and giving personal experiences and imperative statistics, Jelly Roll painted an excellent picture for legislators. His goal was to express the need for targeted interventions in mitigating the fentanyl crisis in the US, a notable rising health concern. Powerful example of giving testimony in the political arena. Well done, Jelly Roll.
