Are instructional design (ID) jobs still in demand? Definitely! Yes, the market may feel competitive with many #OpenForWork banners - but that’s a sign of ongoing demand for skilled ID professionals. Businesses continue to recognize the value of instructional design in developing effective training programs. I’ve also seen some companies might be cautious about growth due to factors like budget constraints. I also know there's an alternative that can benefit both businesses and ID professionals: staff augmentation. This approach offers flexibility so businesses scale their teams as needed, negotiate payment terms, and maintain control over project timelines. And ID jobs would just keep existing! At my company, we're actively seeking ID professionals, confident that the industry will keep evolving, just a little bit different than before the pandemic. Just imagine: having another team member from an external company but working the exact hours you need them to. An extra set of hands is much needed in small L&D teams! I was inspired by a recent discussion with Starla Wehrli, M.Ed. Instructional Designer - I had fun chatting with you!! What do you think? Have you explored staff augmentation or know someone who has? --- 🔔 Tap the profile bell to catch my next post. ✉️ Need an eLearning team by your side? As an aspiring instructional designer, you might feel like you’ve been attached to the end of a fire hose regarding the amount of information you have coming at you! If I had to guess, you have internet voices telling you that you MUST learn this tool or that model. The list goes on and on! Yet, at the same time, you’re also bombarded with sales affiliates trying to persuade you to buy their boot camp. The goal here is to clear the noise and help you figure out what exactly YOU need to work on to become an instructional designer for an organization that fits you well. The important thing to remember is that everyone’s journey to becoming an instructional designer is different. Just because certain skills helped one person, that doesn’t mean they are the skills you need. #instructionaldesign #elearning #traininganddevelopment #edtech #instructionaldesigner #learningstrategies #adultlearning #education #careerdevelopment #professionaldevelopment #educationaltechnology #trainingtips #transferableskills #careerchange #selfstudy
