Today is World Suicide Prevention Day. Having thoughts of suicide doesn’t mean a person will go on to take their life. But it does mean they probably feel hopeless, depressed, fearful, alone. Asking someone if they’re having thoughts of suicide doesn’t mean they’ll act on those thoughts. In fact, it’s often the opposite - it gives them an opportunity to say out loud what they’re thinking and feeling, and to get help. When we allow silence around suicide, we allow it to be stigmatised. It’s time to change that. Have the conversation. And if you’re worried about what to say, pass on the details of support organisations: Papyrus: https://buff.ly/2GtydpR Samaritans: https://buff.ly/2HCJTCJ Suicide Prevention UK: https://buff.ly/3QoArWG #suicide #WorldSuicidePreventionDay #WSPD #MentalHealth 📷 IG: gmf.designs

Today is Suicide Awareness Day Every year, millions of people struggle with thoughts of suicide, feeling overwhelmed by pain and despair. But there is hope. Today, we come together to raise awareness, break the silence, and remind each other that help is available and healing is possible. Start the Conversation: Whether you’re reaching out to a friend, a family member, or even a stranger, your words can make a difference. Asking someone how they’re really doing, listening without judgment, and simply being present can be life-saving. Let’s create a world where no one feels alone in their darkest moments. Know the Signs: Changes in behavior, withdrawing from loved ones, talking about feeling hopeless, or being a burden are some signs that someone might be struggling. By educating ourselves and others, we can be better prepared to support those who need it most. Offer Support: If you or someone you know is struggling, don’t hesitate to reach out. There is strength in seeking help. Connect with a trusted friend, a counselor, or a crisis hotline. You don’t have to carry this burden alone. Remember and Honor: Today, we also honor those we’ve lost and send love to all who are grieving. Their stories matter, and their lives had meaning. Let’s work together to ensure no one else feels they have to face their battles alone. Let’s keep the conversation going beyond today. Together, we can shine a light in the darkness and bring hope to those who need it most. You are not alone. #SuicideAwarenessDay #YouMatter #StartTheConversation #BreakTheSilence #ThereIsHope

YOU ARE NOT ALONE ! This World Suicide Prevention Day reminds me of the very loss of my own people. My classmates, neighbours, relatives and my father. And, they were all very very brave people. When I think of them, all I can remember is their strong side and that's how they should be known forever. My very first LinkedIn post was about Suicide Prevention Day, I highlighted my own experience of dealing with suicidal thoughts. Today, I am writing again to highlight the fact that it is absolutely okay to ask for help. it is a sign of bravery. It is crucial to talk about it. As somebody who's dealt with suicidal thoughts, who has lost people due to suicide, I can assure that it is not a solution. Believe me, nothing gets better with suicide. But talking it out, seeking help, and going back to your people can be a solution. Please reach out when required. Let's prevent suicide. You are brave and everything will be just fine. This is a reminder for me and for you Find the helpline - https://lnkd.in/gGe3g5UZ Love & peace. 🤍 #SucidePreventionDay #MentalHealth #MentalHealthAwareness #SucidePrevention #WeHearYou #Staysafe #YouAreNotAlone #Help #Voice

Today is World Suicide Prevention Day—a time to honor those lost to suicide and raise awareness for prevention. It's a reminder that we must empower communities to change the narrative on suicide and recognize the vital role we all play in supporting one another. Just recently, while browsing Facebook for depression support groups, I came across a post from a teenage girl that stopped me in my tracks. It said, "I'm tired of acting strong. My soul hurts, and my heart and mind are lost." Her words were raw and heartbreaking. Yet, despite the hundreds of shares her post received, the comments were mostly people simply saying, "Me too" or "I understand," without offering real support or connection. This left me feeling uneasy. It’s not enough to just share a post like this and move on. What if this had been our child or someone we loved, reaching out in a moment of deep pain and being met with silence? We have to do more. So I reached out to let her know that she was heard and that she wasn't alone. If you see someone struggling, don’t just hit the share button—reach out. Offer them words of encouragement, let them know they’re not alone, and that their feelings matter. A simple message of support could make all the difference. If we all took a moment to respond with care instead of simply sharing, imagine the change we could create. Let’s use today as a starting point. Together, we can change the narrative, lift each other up, and help save lives. #WorldSuicidePreventionDay #ChangeTheNarrative #SupportMatters #MentalHealthAwareness #YouAreNotAlone

In recent days, our community has been deeply affected by distressing news of violence, and these events serve as evident reminders of the profound impact such tragedies can have on us all. During these challenging times, it's more important than ever that we come together as a community to support one another and strengthen the bonds that unite us. To everyone feeling burdened by these events—whether you are part of our local community or you are experiencing this from afar—you are not navigating this alone. It’s natural to feel overwhelmed, and recognising these feelings is a vital step toward healing. Here’s a gentle reminder for all of us, especially the young members of our community: 🌟 Connect - Reach out to friends, family, or co-workers. Sharing your thoughts and feelings can be incredibly comforting. 🌟 Digital Detox - Consider taking a break from social media and the news. Constant exposure to distressing reports can be more taxing than you might realise 🌟 Nature and Nurture - A walk or simply stepping outside can refresh your mind and body. Nature has a subtle way of healing us. 🌟 Voice Your Thoughts - Don’t hesitate to speak up about what your feelings to be supported during tough times. Whether it’s a listening ear or a helping hand, ask for it. We are here for you! For those who might find these times particularly tough, remember that support is always available: Lifeline offers 24-hour crisis support and suicide prevention. Text or call 0477 13 11 14 if you need someone to talk to. Beyond Blue is there for anyone feeling anxious or depressed. Don’t carry the burden alone; call 1300 22 4636 anytime.
