‘Mummy gets paid for #talking to people’. The words of my youngest daughter as a 5 years old when asked by her teacher what her parents do for a living. She was right, though I’d like to think there’s a bit more to it than just talking. I do like talking to people, all people. One of the reasons that today I am doing a shift for Weston-super-Mare Town Council being a mobile information centre for visitors to the this less well known seaside town. To help me with I’ve been checking out what’s on this weekend. ⭐     An #Elvis and Dolly Parton tribute night, there are times when we’re awash with Elvises….(is that the plural) when the town hosts conventions to support this musical giant. ⭐    A weekend of nostalgia at the #Helicopter Museum, did you know there was once an airbase here? ⭐    Arts and crafts workshops at the Town Museum. ⭐    And a weekend of #Blokarting competitions along the very flat beach, weather permitting of course. I do love their strapline ‘Who dares grins’ If you are out and about this morning and spot me, believe me I’ll be pretty obvious in my bright blue shirt with dayglow green jacket, please say hi. Why do I do this? Good question. Because there is nothing quite like hearing what people have to say about how they feel about stuff, even a day out at the seaside. Listening, really #listening, provides the #feedback for improving what’s already here and supporting a thriving #economy for the future. Right, time to get more steps in. Now, where did I put my walking shoes?

Reflecting on an incredible nine-year journey at Tegrita fills me with an overwhelming sense of gratitude and pride. As I mark this milestone, I'm drawn back to the moment of decision that set me on this path—a choice between the allure of a higher guaranteed salary and the promise of a company that felt like home, Tegrita. Choosing Tegrita was a leap of faith, driven by a connection to its culture, its entrepreneurial spirit, and a desire to be part of something more meaningful. It was about aligning with a team that valued flexibility, innovation, and the potential to grow together. Looking back, I can't help but smile at the thought that some saw this decision as a risk. Yet, for me, it was a clear call to where my heart belonged. These nine years have been nothing short of transformative. From embarking on my journey as a marketing technology consultant to evolving into a leadership role and eventually becoming COO, each step has been a testament to Tegrita's dynamic growth and its nurturing environment. This journey has allowed me to contribute significantly to our transformation into a well-rounded firm, with a focus on placing email at the center of the communication journey. It's a privilege to have played a part in shaping the company's direction and to witness its evolution firsthand. What has truly made this experience unique is the constant challenge and opportunity for growth. Unlike past ventures where stagnation led to departure, Tegrita has continuously pushed me to expand my horizons, lead differently, and innovate in ways I hadn't imagined. This has not only been professionally fulfilling but has profoundly impacted my personal life, providing me the balance to be present for my children and pursue passions such as travel. As I celebrate nine years with Tegrita, I do so with a heart full of appreciation for the journey, the lessons learned, and the family I've found in my team. This isn't just about marking a significant tenure; it's about acknowledging the profound impact Tegrita has had on my life, both professionally and personally. Our #carbonliteracy training made us realise just how great an impact we have on our planet through using our cars. At Barkers - Procurement & Commercial Practitioners, our carbon assessments have revealed that transport is one of our largest sources of emissions, which is something we’ll look to address over the coming months.
