5 things you should never do in scuba diving ⬇️ 🚫 1. Skip a buddy check Always conduct a buddy check Before each dive, perform a buddy check to catch any gear issues, ensure your air is on and full, and familiarize yourself with your buddy’s equipment. It only takes a minute, so there's no reason to skip it. 🚫 2. Dive beyond your limit There are good reasons for your maximum depth limit. Diving deeper than your certification allows requires additional training and experience. It's crucial to stay within your certified depth. 🚫 3. Wearing incorrect weight Carrying extra weight is like constantly hauling a brick around. It makes your body work harder, complicates buoyancy control, and increases air consumption. 🚫 4. Skip a dive briefing Listen closely to the dive briefing and follow the dive guide's instructions. They are familiar with the dive site, understand local conditions, and know where to find elusive marine life. 🚫 5. Hold your breath Holding your breath can cause serious lung injuries due to pressure changes underwater. Would you add anything to this list? After years of letting a deep-seated phobia of scuba masks keep him from exploring beneath the waves, John decided to take the plunge with Just Dive In CIC and transform his fear into freedom. Here’s his story: 🌟 John's Breakthrough: From Mask Phobia to Scuba Enthusiast "Ever since I was young, the thought of wearing a scuba mask filled me with dread. Something about having my face enclosed just didn't sit right with me, and it kept me away from scuba diving, something I always wanted to try. Liveaboards and Why You Should Join Them!! The scuba industry has evolved to provide many services for divers through the years ranging from introductory dive trips to advanced courses. Following this trend is the rise of liveaboards. Liveaboards are, in simple terms, a fitted ship to accommodate the passengers’ everyday life comfortably and function as a fully operational floating dive center. Life onboard a liveaboard is as simple as “eat, dive sleep” as you cruise to impressive dive sites and destinations hard to reach on day trips. As there are still many divers who are unfamiliar with the idea of liveaboards, here are the reasons why joining them is a good idea : - Advance your diving skill - Cost-effective diving - Discover new marine life - More than just diving - Explore new and pristine sites - Make new friends Join the Underwater Revolution🌊🐬 “ OCEAN FOR ALL,ALL FOR OCEAN" #DuneIndonesia #DuneAtlantis

Lessons from SCUBA Diving I wanted to share a passion of mine: SCUBA diving. Exploring the underwater world offers tranquility, adventure, and new perspectives. Lessons from the Deep Preparation is Key: Thorough prep is essential in diving. Ensuring your equipment is in good shape, your tank is full, and you are fully briefed on the dive site is critical to a successful and enjoyable dive. Knowing your dive parters and understanding key hand signals ensures any potential challenges have solutions in advance. Planning and foreseeing challenges lead to smoother operations. Adaptability: Underwater conditions change rapidly. I remember a dive where the current was atrocious meaning the entire group had to bottom out on the sand and practically crawl across the sandy bottom to get to the wreck. Not fun. Staying calm and adaptable is crucial. Communication: Clear communication with your dive buddy is vital. Once, a fellow diver neglected to check her tank was full before entering the water. Only a few minutes into the dive, she ran out of air. Luckily her dive buddy was right there to provide her with their Octo to provide emergency air. Effective communication fosters teamwork. Perspective: Diving offers a unique view of the world. There is a level of respect you must have for your fellow divers as well as the life that surrounds you. Things like not touching or disturbing your surroundings and being aware of where your fellow divers are to prevent accidents are critical. It reminds me of the importance of sustainability and responsibility. Dive Into Your Passions SCUBA diving fuels my personal growth by challenging me and providing fresh perspectives. What’s your passion outside of work, and how does it influence your professional journey? I’d love to hear your stories! Oh, and here is a short snippet of a video from a night dive (my favorite!) with Mantas! #SCUBADiving #PersonalGrowth #ProfessionalDevelopment #PassionAndPerspective #LifeLessons #StayCurious

BOWHEAD WHALE FORAGING PATTERNS IDENTIFIED Applying chaos theory to the movement of iconic Arctic whales uncovered a 24-hour diving cycle and a long-range (~100 km) synchronisation. Bowhead whales are among the largest and longest-lived mammals in the world. They play a vital role in the marine ecosystems of the Arctic Ocean, yet relatively little is known about their foraging and diving behaviours. https://lnkd.in/e2_w3uAe

I went scuba diving last year and nearly got eaten by a large group of sharks. Sort of. It was a drift dive, using an ocean current to travel along the edge of a reef wall and eventually popping up several hundred metres further down the reef. But our boat driver miscalculated the current, so when we emerged on the surface in the middle of the sea with no boat and nothing around, save for a building swell and the distant sight of land, it was somewhat unnerving. To add to the tension, a couple of curious sharks started circling about 20 metres below our group, but slowly grew in numbers until there must have been 20 - 30 sharks circling, slowly edging closer. They weren't exactly small sharks either, each one between 2 - 3 metres. It didn't take long for a couple of the more adventurous ones to start getting quite testy - making direct approaches and turning away only four or five metres from us. And then the boat came. And nobody got chomped. The business lesson here? There isn't one. Just a reminder to put yourself in the path of nature every now and again; it's good for your soul. Just try to avoid the apex predators if you can; I can't imagine getting eaten is much fun. Oh yea, and buy Fyma if you own or operate commercial real estate and want better data. #fyma #scuba #commercialrealestate #proptech #computervision #chomped

Is There a Flaw in This Dive Setup? A Closer Look at the Scuba Regulator In the captivating world of scuba diving, ensuring safety and functionality is paramount. Every piece of equipment is meticulously designed to provide the diver with a seamless underwater experience. However, even the most experienced divers can occasionally overlook small details that can impact their dive. One such detail, which sometimes goes unnoticed, is the orientation of the scuba regulator. The scuba regulator is an essential component of any diver’s gear, responsible for delivering air from the tank to the diver’s mouth. It is the life-support system underwater and must be handled with unmatched vigilance. Its correct positioning is crucial for comfort and safety. In this case, our dive team was on a training dive to spot different problems you can encounter underwater, particularly when diving with first time or inexperienced divers. An upside-down regulator can lead to various complications. It could alter the ease with which the diver can retrieve or adjust the mouthpiece, potentially causing discomfort or a compromised air delivery if the hose kinks unnecessarily. This oversight can also affect the overall balance and positioning of the dive gear, impacting the diver’s hydrodynamics and buoyancy. #ScubaDiving #DivingSafety #AttentionToDetail #UnderwaterAdventure #ScubaRegulator #GearCheck #OceanExploration #ProfessionalDiving #SafetyFirst #TenerifeDivemaster #TenerifeDivingAcademy #Divemaster #Tenerife #DivemasterInternshipTenerife #TDA #TenerifeDivingAcademy

As the year was coming to a close, I decided to check off something truly special from my bucket list- scuba diving. And what an incredible journey it turned out to be! This was more than just an activity; it was an experience that left me in awe of the vast, hidden world beneath the water’s surface. It all began with a pool session to get the basics right, followed by four dives in the open sea. Each dive was a step into a deeper connection with the ocean and me. Moments that took my breath away: • On one dive, we explored a shipwreck, now home to vibrant corals and marine life- a hauntingly beautiful reminder of time and nature's resilience. • Learning to conquer challenges like managing pressure as I descended, balancing amidst the sea’s constant movement, and practicing skills to stay safe underwater. • Finally, the fourth dive- the fun dive- was pure magic. No tasks, no training, just me and the ocean’s beauty. That’s when I truly felt the rewards of this adventure: freedom, serenity, and a sense of accomplishment. Diving taught me to slow down, breathe deeply, and embrace the unknown- both in the sea and in life. It’s a powerful reminder that sometimes the most rewarding experiences come when you step out of your comfort zone. As we dive into a new year, my advice is this- Find your own hidden gem, whether it’s under the waves or in your passions. The world is so much bigger than we realize, and it’s waiting to be explored. #YearEndAdventure #DivingInto2025 #UnderwaterJourney #HiddenGems #StutisAdventure

A Dive with a Twist: Miguel and Gabs Swap Headgear for an Unforgettable Experience In the realm of underwater exploration, divers are accustomed to following a strict protocol to ensure safety and effectiveness. However, sometimes breaking the routine even in the simplest of ways can lead to unforgettable experiences. This was precisely the case with seasoned divers, Miguel and Gabs, who decided to swap their usual, sophisticated headgear for something rather unconventional and amusing: bright pink bunny ears. Equipped with their trusty diving gear and sporting the amusing pink bunny ears, Miguel and Gabs were ready to plunge into the blue abyss. As they descended below the surface, their playful new accessories fluttered playfully with the currents. The vibrant pink stood out against the marine blue, a whimsical reminder that sometimes it's the lighter moments that bring the most joy. But beyond the smiles and laughter, there was a deeper takeaway. It was a reminder that even in pursuits as serious as diving, there is value in stepping out of the norm and embracing moments of spontaneous joy. The pink bunny ears became a symbol of fun and camaraderie, bridging the gap between seasoned professionals and spectators alike. The reactions from fellow divers and those observing from the shore were nothing short of delightful. Not only did it invoke humorous reactions, a bright piece of equipment also ensures excellent visibility in the water, and makes it easy to be recognised by other divers. #UnderwaterAdventure #DivingFun #SpontaneousJoy #UnforgettableDive #WhimsicalMoments #PinkBunnyEars #DiveMemories #BreakingTheRoutine #DiveWithASmile #TenerifeDivemaster #TenerifeDivingAcademy #Divemaster #Tenerife #DivemasterInternshipTenerife #DivemasterTenerife #TDA #TenerifeDivingAcademy
