🟩 GREEN CARD or RED CARD? 🟥 🟩 weeztR brandishes its green card for Mustela: the brand that gives up sales to be more sustainable 🟩 After its participation in the Corporate Climate Convention, has taken bold decisions to make its business model more sustainable. 💡🌱 Part of Laboratoires Expanscience, Mustela offers products for the family's skin, especially that of babies. 👶 In 2021, the brand has taken a major decision: it is giving itself six years, until 2027, to stop marketing disposable wipes. “This huge single-use waste clogs drains and generates microparticles in oceans and ecosystems,” reminds Marguerite Laborde. 🌊🌿 The end of disposable wipes sales: a loss of revenue? 💸 A daunting challenge given that these sales account for 20% of Mustela's sales in France (and 2% worldwide). This renunciation will take place in several stages, with a transition to compostable or reusable alternatives, before the total end of disposable wipes sales in 2027. 🔄♻️ But will Mustela really lose a fifth of its sales? Between now and the end of sales, they hope to offset this turnover by creating value elsewhere. Everyday when I drink water from the sink, I have a lot of gratitude to be able to access that ressource so easily. I want to take people into that journey to value the water and the natural ressources. Today with my brand AguaLuz Editions we want to celebrate the World Water Day by sharing with you our new product, a water bottle made with sustainable materials, to give you the opportunity to commit more for the environment. Everyday 1.3 billion plastic bottles are used across the world, which is about 1 million per minute. 90% of plastic bottles used aren’t even recycled and end up in landfills across our planet, sitting there and taking around 1,000 years to biodegrade. Yesterday, I attended the Packaging Innovations Show, and truth be told, I was hoping for more groundbreaking innovations. 🤔 It's clear that the focus on eco-friendly solutions remains strong, with sustainability becoming increasingly standard. However, the real challenge lies in pushing beyond current limitations in this space. 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐤𝐞𝐲 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐤𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐩𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐮𝐩: 🌿𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 is here to stay, and I think it will be the fastest-growing area as it requires minimal changes in consumer behaviour. There is a growing movement among major companies in the bio-economy sector that are advocating for improved waste management of compostable packaging in the UK. It was inspiring to witness the research on consumer behaviour regarding the identification and disposal of compostable packaging, showing impressive results with a 77% collection rate overall. 🔁𝐑𝐞𝐮𝐬𝐞 is another aspect of packaging that I believe will grow in the next decade, led by TerraCycle's arm, Loop, currently running trials in supermarkets worldwide. France is leading in reuse activities, supported by return incentives, tailored options for brands, and a national communication campaign. Although the show didn't dazzle me with groundbreaking innovations, it emphasised the significance of these two trends in shaping the future of packaging. #PackagingInnovations #Sustainability #SmartPackaging #compostablepackaging #reuse #reusereducerecycle
