Our Brand Director, Brittney Stephens, had the pleasure of attending the inaugural Travel + Leisure Co. World’s Best Summit in NYC, and wow, what a ride! From Paravel's CEO Andy Krantz breaking down the real deal on sustainability to Neil Jacobs of Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas reminding us that it’s all about building stronger communities, the insights were top-notch. We learned that family travel is all about luxury and connection now, and AI is making travel more personal than ever. Plus, Ben Trodd, COO of Aman hit home with the idea that true luxury is about those unforgettable moments and feeling personally recognized. Huge thanks to Jacqueline Gifford and the entire Travel + Leisure team for putting together such an incredible event. The future of travel looks pretty exciting, and we’re here for it! And we'll never be over meeting legends like Bobbi Brown and Daniel Boulud. 5 Takeaways from the Travel + Leisure World’s Best Summit: - Sustainability is Multifaceted: Beyond being a buzzword, sustainability requires ongoing education and extends across the supply chain. Andy Krantz from Paravel and Neil Jacobs of Six Senses emphasized the importance of community resilience and progress over perfection as crucial steps forward. - Family Travel Evolution: Modern family travel emphasizes spending quality time together, with luxury expectations extending to children. Family trips now span all ages, with a focus on creating memorable, healing experiences. -Premium Air Travel Experiences: Airports are stepping up their game with personalized and inclusive amenities, turning them into destinations themselves. From amazing lounges to healthier in-flight menus like those from Singapore Airlines, the travel experience is getting a serious upgrade. -AI in Travel: AI is shaking things up by moving from basic personalization to deep customization. Hyatt is leading the way with tailored recommendations that make your travel experience unique and meaningful, and there's a clear trend towards moving away from overhyped Instagram spots. -Redefining Luxury: Luxury isn’t just about flashy things anymore. Ben Trodd from Aman nailed it by saying it’s about access, exclusivity, convenience, and those unforgettable moments. It’s all about making guests feel personally recognized and valued, creating loyalty from the heart, not the pocket.

Another insightful read from McKinsey & Company shedding light on the evolving landscape of luxury travel. Formed from the results of a survey of more than 5,000 luxury travellers (defined as those who spend, on average, $500 or more per night on lodging) and their preferences, plans, and expectations, McKinsey’s article visits many of the common perceptions of this growing traveller category. Luxury travellers have a greater reliance on travel advisors, and particularly those leveraging technology and data to provide personalised experiences and exceptional service levels – proving the human touch remains indispensable in the digital age. In addition to craving exotic experiences, luxury travellers also cite meeting new people and to disconnect from digital services during their travels. This underscores the need for expert guidance in planning extraordinary and unique travel adventures before departure, challenging the idea of continuous digital engagement. These findings closely match what we are observing among luxury tour operators, who are focused on providing inspiring and personalised travel experiences. Driven by data and enriched with relevant content, the combined capabilities of the TravelComms platform and mobile app offer a compelling way for operators and agents to stand out in their customer service. Juliet will be giving her Keynote speech at 15.45h on the 19th June and will also be moderating a panel discussion at 16.45h on: Low impact travel : how the industry can contribute to both environmental conservation and the well-being of travellers and support local communities. The sustainable transformation of the hotel industry and the rise of eco-travel are not passing trends; they represent a fundamental shift in how we view our relationship with the world and the importance of preserving the planet for future generations. For travellers, hoteliers, and travellers, it is our collective responsibility to make choices that that tread lightly on the planer to protect the environment, respect local cultures, and enhance the well-being of everyone. By embracing sustainability and responsible travel, we have the power to shape a brighter and more harmonious future for ourselves and the world we explore. In this era of unprecedented environmental challenges, the hotel industry and eco travel have a crucial role to play in promoting sustainability. As the global community deals with the continuing environmental challenges, the hospitality sector is stepping up to make a difference by embracing sustainable practices. Sustainable hotels and eco-conscious travel experiences not only benefit the environment but also enhance the well-being of communities, provide authentic and enriching experiences for travellers, and secure a sustainable future for our planet. In recent years, the hotel industry has faced a series of challenges, from fluctuating consumer preferences to environmental concerns. Today, it's not enough to provide comfort and luxury; travellers increasingly seek accommodations that align with their values. It's clear that sustainability is no longer a luxury but a necessity. Today's travellers increasingly prioritise sustainability when making their accommodation choices. The demand for eco-tourism is increasing year on year as travellers become more conscious of environmental issues. We will examine how responsible travel promotes cultural exchange, respect for local cultures and traditions, and provides enhanced economic benefits for host communities by encouraging community engagement by travellers interacting with local communities and explore how hotels also have an unprecedented opportunity to support their surrounding communities by using local sourcing in their supply chain, providing job creation schemes and supporting local educational initiatives.
