Philadelphia is a dynamic city. It's always changing and always growing in new ways. Marking The Pew Charitable Trusts 75th year, Pew released this report, highlighting fascinating pictures from the city's past, key data and trends from the Census. My favorite? The percentage Philadelphia's foreign born population is back to where it was in the 1940s--16%. To learn more, go to https://lnkd.in/ed8HmYyY

As more donors learn the advantages of DAFs, they have become a preferred method of giving from a wide range of demographics, from middle-class families up to ultra-high-net-worth individuals and are outpacing donations to foundations. Part of the reason for this is how straightforward it is to create and contribute to a DAF. It only requires one to open an account with a sponsoring organization, contribute assets and make grants. The sponsoring organization handles much of the necessary administration, including investment management, record-keeping and due diligence. With low administrative fees and the ability to streamline giving, it’s no wonder DAFs are appealing to such a wide variety of individuals. https://lnkd.in/gFHx82yr

Taking a sustainable approach to your fundraising can help protect you and ensure your services remain uninterrupted through unpredictable turns and twists. By nurturing long-term and meaningful bonds with all your donor demographics, you can deepen every group's engagement and, ultimately, their investment in your cause. This means focusing on individual and large donors, on digital and traditional methods of telling your story, and both private and government partnerships. Hey folks! I need your help to wish my friends Blind Beginnings a sweet 16! Blind Beginnings was founded by Shawn Marsolais who encourages a limitless philosophy in all they do. "Limitless is about educating the public about the abilities and potential of children and youth who are blind or partially sighted. The idea that the only limitations that exist for these BC youth are the ones that society places on them is crucial to understand in order to fully embrace equity and inclusion in all aspects." Recently I was gifted the opportunity to spend time with two of their team members Rob Mineault and Lia Dicicco and it was incredible to see how their limitless philosophy is embedded in the essential and critical education programs and services they provide for children and youth in BC who are blind or partially sighted. If, like me, you don't have lived experience with being blind or partially sighted, then you and I need to educate ourselves on in how to create spaces that are welcome for folks who are. How we do that is by activating our learning to expand our understanding and knowledge to be better employers, colleagues, friends and allies. And before we get stuck in the "but where do we start" zone, we can skip directly to being activated in action as Blind Beginnings has ample ways to get our learning activated. As example, here is a non-exhaustive list of what activated action looks like: Follow Blind Beginnings! Book a Blindness 101 Workshop! https://lnkd.in/gwTH4jdb Listen to the Limitless podcast! https://lnkd.in/gfyr4JSq Read the Limitless blog! https://lnkd.in/g7e_ig6M Tell our networks about Blind Beginnings! Let's be activated action takers and give Blind Beginnings a fantastically impactful sweet 16 birthday celebration! #BlindBeginnings #DEI #BlindnessAwareness
Blind Beginnings is 16! Blind Beginnings was first formed as a Society on this day, February 25th, 2008. Since then, the organization and its team has been working tirelessly on supporting and inspiring children and youth who are blind or partially sighted. With the help of our many supporters, donors, and team members (past and present), Blind Beginnings has grown and evolved as an organization, spreading awareness about the capabilities of children and youth who are blind or partially sighted while providing learning, support, and services to their entire families. We want to take this opportunity on this very special day to give a huge thank you to all of you who have supported us or been involved with us over the past 16 years – we couldn’t have done it without you. Today’s anniversary celebration belongs to every one of you as well. You can learn a bit more about the backstory of the founding of Blind Beginnings below: https://lnkd.in/dBrRyepS #HappyAnniversary #SixteenCandles #BlindBeginnings

⭐️TODAY ONLY ~ DOUBLE YOUR DONATION ⭐️ Unaccompanied women, especially aging older adults, are the fastest growing segment of the homeless population. The women who arrive at WISEPlace are often at their most vulnerable. 100% have experienced domestic violence and nearly 30% are disabled. That’s why I’m fundraising on behalf of WISEPlace for the Help Them Home initiative. WISEPlace’s mission is to see that every woman in need is safely housed, empowered, and on a path to personal stability. https://lnkd.in/gmQfqYxk Women who find their way to WISEPlace are often lacking the resources to end homelessness on their own. Despite these uphill battles, 96% of WISEPlace’s participants have attained and retained housing through its transformative programs. WISEPlace doesn’t just provide a program; it's a roadmap to stability and independence. WISEPlace’s 2023 Program Outcomes showcase the power of resilience and support. "The up-and-coming generation of #changemakers is challenging the very way we think about #philanthropy and incorporate #giving into our lives. The dominant attitudes that donors bring to philanthropy—their motivations, priorities and views—are quickly changing as Millennials bring their unique experiences and behaviors to the table. And the tide will continue to shift as Millennials take up a more significant role in philanthropy." 💗 To read more about the research findings: https://lnkd.in/gkQbSYp Fidelity Charitable®

Today celebrate National Voter Registration Day by making the pledge to vote! Sign up now: https://bit.ly/3XKo12i Minnesota is frequently leading the nation for voter turnout, but low-income Minnesotans vote at lower levels than the general population. Furthermore, people with fewer resources and people with disabilities continue to face barriers to voting. That’s why these Minnesota nonprofits and many others are supporting equitable access to civic participation and providing nonpartisan voter registration and education to the neighbors who use their services. Join with us and Catholic Charities Twin Cities, Goodwill-Easter Seals Minnesota, Greater Twin Cities United Way, Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota, and Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity to celebrate #NationalVoterRegistrationDay. As 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, all nonprofits involved in promoting National Voter Registration Day are engaged in strictly nonpartisan voter registration efforts.
