BE A 'SAILBOAT' Sailboats are at their slowest when traveling downwind. Similar to someone who’s just “going with the flow” in their business. Doing just enough to “get by.” Sailboats work best (and FAST) when they travel “across” – or even toward – the wind. Seth Godin uses this analogy to describe the work we do. “We can find a direction and a craft. I've never gone sailing. I hear it's more fun than floating. It's the same in business. Many businesses are stable and floating...but they are dependent on the current.   It’s when they learn to build a sail and capture the wind that they really start to take off.   Good press is like the wind in the sail. It takes you to the places you want to go. Lessons from the Crow’s Nest: Navigating Life’s Vast Sea 🌊⛵ The tales of sailors perched high in the crow’s nest, scanning the vast expanse of the sea, were no longer just stories—they were our reality onboard INS Tarangini. We would clamber up the rigging to reach the crow’s nest—a tiny platform nestled atop the mainmast. From this point, the world unfolded before us—a breathtaking canvas where the blue sea met the endless sky. Boom, the long spar extending horizontally from the mast held our sails’ fate. With each gust of wind, we scrambled along the boom, pulling ropes to furl or unfurl the sails. The creaking wood beneath our feet and the rhythmic sway of the ship made for a thrilling experience. Life, much like a sailboat on a vast sea, requires us to adjust our sails, catching winds of opportunity. Sometimes, we need to climb to the crow’s nest for a broader perspective; other times, we need to man the boom, making crucial adjustments. It’s all about finding our rhythm—the delicate balance between pulling up and letting go.
