I gave the finger to the rat race over 17 years ago. Do you really need: → A promotion → A crappy commute → To win employee awards → An annoying boss who sucks → To spend decades working a "job" → To live anyone's life except your own → To try to "meet a quota" or outdo company metrics When you can: → Be free to do what you want → Have time with friends and family → Travel whenever and wherever you want to → Swim in your pool at 2:30 pm on a weekday → Choose to work a 3hr day or put in a 15hr day → Tell someone "no" because you don't want to work with them → Get to workout in an empty gym because it's 1pm on a weekday Here's the thing: → I'm not special → I don't have a masters degree → I'm not particularly smarter than the rest But: → I know EXACTLY what I want → I'll do whatever it takes to get there → I won't let anything get in the way of that → I'm willing to put in all the time necessary to get there Remember this: → Be creative → Be strategic → Be relentless → Be the person you always wanted to be → Be ready to take the life you always deserved No one's going to do it for you. Virtual Assistant Journey Week 2 Milestone Completed My VA journey is such an interesting one. While I decided to take the VA course I promised myself I was going to learn and have fun, this is the second week and I am having fun already. ✅ Growth Mindset and Grit I learnt to engage the Power of YET. Individuals with a growth mindset engages their mind deeply, process error and correct their mistake. One with growth mindset understands that learning is not fixed, but it changes with effort and when one fails they should be willing to start over with lessons learned from their failure. Individuals with a fixed mindset do not want their intelligence to be judged, so they run from error and difficulty. ✅ Grit is simply keeping up with a task, even when faced with challenges and setbacks but then you keep pressing on because you have a goal you hope to achieve. Grit requires one to start the journey slowly and not at a fast pace, it is expected that if I fall on the way then I will stand up, dust my body figure out why I fell (learn from my mistake), and then continue with the journey until I arrive at my destination which is the goal I hoped to achieve. ✅ Grit is a growth mindset. Concepts are not impossible if we work hard and well enough, abilities are capable of growing if put into work overtime. ✅ Communication - Virtual assistants ought to communicate effectively and proactively. Proactive communication is the act of thinking ahead, anticipating the needs of your clients and meeting their needs before they inform you of their needs. ✅ Managing up is a strategy for managing your relationship with your manager or client. It requires the employee to understand the managers expectation, have an open line of communication and ensuring that the managers goals are been met. ✅ As a Virtual Assistant if I can effectively understand my clients expectations, their communication style and values, vision and goals; then I am practicing proactive communication and that way I will be building a solid relationship with my manager by making his own job easy. #LifeAtALX #ALXVA #DoHardThings.

We onboarded a new team member last week. I was showing him the current projects we are working on, and giving him a general overview of what had been done up until this point. He looked at me and asked “How are you able to stay on top of everything?” This was the story I told him: I remember earlier this year, in April, when I was working with a client from Singapore, one from South Africa and one from Canada at the same time. I was in Europe timezone. I’d wake up at 7 to have a 9AM meeting with the South African team (2 hours ahead), and built what I had to build until around 12 my time (3 hours). Around this time the client from Singapore ended his sales calls for the day (7pm there) and we had a meeting everyday at 1pm my time to align. Work for this client took around 3-4 for hours after that. At around 5-6 PM I was done with it. At this time though, the Canadian client finished his morning focused work and was constantly wanting updates as he was super excited regarding the system we were building. At the time, this was the project that took the most amount of time, most days going until 1-2AM at night. The only rest I had during those weeks was a coffee with my mother from 7-7:45PM , before work with the Canadian. At the time I had no team. I remember feeling pain and suffering each day, throughout the entire day. Yet I realized one simple fact. The brain is very flexible muscle. Just like in the gym, if u increase your weight overtime, your body picks up and adapts So does the human brain. Fast forward to today, where at any given time we have 8-10 projects to be delivered per week, and 4 employees to manage, I look back to those days. What used to feel like the End of the world, managing 3 clients at once by myself, now feels like a routine that I can’t life without. I’m sure I’ll have this feeling at 50-100projects But I also know that my brain will, again, adapt to it. And 50 projects per week will feel… normal. This is the mentality I am trying to pass to the members of my team. Yes, it’s hard right now. But, if you push through it, you shall survive and thrive , stronger than before. And as you do, bigger opportunities, therefore responsibilities, shall be given to you.
